Dont know why my post was deleted?

Hope the wider muslim community condemns this horrendous attack.

Unfortunately was coming with all the anti semitic and free Palestine  sentiment in this country.

Governments have given a free license to a certain sector of community to spread hatred against another community.

Imagine being a Jew walking around being surrounded in areas with Palestine  flags everywhere.

Country has to be careful where this could  go.

And I wonder who’s enabled all this

This is the massive problem, Israel Vs Palestine does/should not equate to Jews Vs Muslims.

Of course there's correlation between the two, but I was chatting to a buddy of mine who thoroughly condemned this attack. His point was that mosques are targeted just as much if not.more.in this country so they understood how abhorrent this attack is. And whilst he is very anti Israel, he does not hold that against the Jewish community in the UK.

I can't say this is the view that would be widely shared (I don't know), but surely we should be looking to come together and not sow more seeds of division.

Just had a quick Google and found this straight away: https://didsburymosque.org/a-statement-from-didsbury-mosque-condemning-the-attack-outside-a-manchester-synagogue

Good to see the quote and rightly so, hope more of the Imams and local leaders say the same and MEAN it.

Not sure I've ever heard a Jew go on a killing spree inside a mosque in this country but stand to be corrected.

Imagine if this was a muslim killed in a mosque by a Jew on Eid...

Just pray this doesnt escalate from the Reform point of view as this could be the excuse they are looking for some anti muslim retaliation.

( I cant see the Jewish community retalyating as lucily they dont seem the sort to fo do thank god).

Hope this brings the 2 communities together somehow else I dread to think where it goes.

Do we know the attacker in Manchester was a Muslim? I've not seen anything to confirm that?

On the other hand, and as Trump’s Syrian envoy Tom Barrack said the other day, thinking of this issue as 🇮🇱 and 🇵🇸 is also complicated as the Middle East doesn’t work in a nation state way, and when there has been an emphasis on the nation state, you end up with lunatics in charge (Saddam, Netanyahu, Assad). People from that part of the world instinctively see the world in a much more ethnic/tribal sense than our western perspective of nation states.

there were impromptu pro Gaza protests on oct 8th 2023 too

I guess the best form of attack/defence is to get in there and remind everyone what the narrative should be about

Who?

No one in particular - both governments have failed

we’ve allowed a number of protesters to sing chants that are blatantly anti semtic across the country, week after week without challenge (eg. ‘Khaybar, khaybar’)

I guess there might be consequences

Keeping to the rhetoric.

That's why the name of the terrorist  is not released yet but it wont be any suprise to those who haven't got their head in the sand.

If it was already arranged then I see no issue with it

you can’t argue that Gaza/palestine should not equate to Jews in the uk and then demand that a Gaza protest be cancelled because of an attack on Jews in the uk.

the question is why was a protest organised for a Thursday. If it’s been organised after the events of this morning then it 100% shouldn’t have been allowed.

the attacker was a British born Muslim of Syrian descent   (Called Jihad - that won’t help)

And there lies a significant, unfortunate and divisive situation, which is becoming more and more prevalent in our once secular society.

In times gone by, you would have identified as British.

Now, as you have stated above, he's not only British but his religion is listed and his family origins and it is these other two factors which govern more and more people these days.

Yes, you have diversity in society but you also have plenty of fuel for division.

I don't know the answer, I'm not sure many people do.

Incidentally, there are some claims in isr media that some of the flotilla vessels were empty of any aid.  They’ll  need all the ‘receipts’ with uncut videos or the accusation will be that they’ve simply unloaded it to make their point.

Yeah a ****ing disgrace that. You’ve got to call that off and equally the choice of yesterday was not sensible either given the Jewish celebrations

Country is too entrenched in extremes. Awful place to be present in at the moment

England feels more like a social experiment than a country at the moment

I see your point but I think people should be proud of their roots and ancestry.  We see second gen Indians and Pakistanis supporting their cricket teams on tour here.  If they’re also being overtly anti England then I think that’s not right but expressing support for the country of their origins is fine imo.

The attacker today is a British Muslim

just as you have British jews, British Sikhs, British hindus

Do any of these groups cause any issues?  It’s an extremist part of Islam that brings problems. You could argue that there is an extremist part of English nationalism that brings problems too.

CORRECTION:  he was born in Syria.  Granted citizenship in 2006.

Unfortunately, yes.

Remember the trouble between Hindus and Muslims in Leicester just 3 or 4 years ago.

Troubles that had their origins in India.

They even chose a time to riot when the country was mourning the death of our Queen.

I didn't say folk shouldn't be proud of their roots, just that it identifies them more and more.

In days gone past, it would have been a person's occupation/address that would identify them such as: Fred Smith, a builder from Stretton, has been charged.......

It is unhelpful and has sown the seeds of an 'us and them, you're different' culture in too many quarters - in my view.
