Yeah I don't disagree - not sure if they could have come up with a better way of doing it!

Think that's the hard truth.  Whether people agree or not, we've got legal limits on air pollution and smashing people's wallet is the only thing that's shown to work.

The Rwanda scheme really was just a dog whistle wasn't it. Tories could've done much more then they did but wanted to use it for political gain instead.  They only actually started to do something right at the end of their term in government under Sunak

I know many will say this isn't enough but for a start its actually pretty good. Although I do feel for Labour cause no doubt the 'concerned citizens' won't give them credit for it and just leap to millions of deportations needed now. Without any consideration for the legality, practicality or ethics of that.

I wish I could say I was surprised.

This is who the man, and those who support him, have always been. Other people have given them leeway because of supposed "legitimate concerns" for too long.

See them for who they are. They are saying it loudly enough and have always been.

He gets away with so much, so I doubt it.

Yeah, it's just "people holding a different political opinion" apparently.

If you look at the US news sites, hardly any are covering it and the ones that are, it's like the 4th or 5th article. Imagine if Starmer did something like this, he would not survive and would be forced to resign. Just unbelievable how sterile the states has become to his behaviour and general racism.

Anyone in any position of responsibility in this country would have to resign (or be sacked)

the USA is a weird place

Well, yes. that's certainly one word to describe it right now.

This isn't by accident. Over the last 10-20 years, the media conglomerates have been taking over independent newspapers, cable news stations, etc. Now the vast majority of our media is owned by billionaires that are either cozying up to Trump to protect their main stream of income (example - Washington Post not endorsing Kamala Harris because it is owned by Bezos, and he cares more about Amazon than the Post).

He has also used his vast power to sue, silence, and intimidate any members of the media who dissent. Look at how he barred the Associated Press from having White House Access. Look at how he mandated that any reporters working in the Pentagon sign an agreement that they will run all of their reporting by the Military prior to publishing.

What we have witnessed in America is an authoritarian takeover. Though Trump himself is an idiot, the people behind him have carefully planned all of this.

Haven't seen the Obama monkey meme video thing. But apparently lots of other figures were depicted like this, including Biden as a monkey eating a banana.

For me, it's not the racism angle that's concerning, it's that this is the level that is being stooped to in modern day politics. Talk about the dumbing down of society.

As Sampson says it's a strategy, and it works well unfortunately.

I love how they blame a staffer. The excuses after his press secretary basically said what's the big deal. Then outrage came and they take it down. Clearly they were ok with it. Plus doesn't Trump works like 18 hour days he would have seen it for sure.

Then you have this black republican senator saying the below to kind of set it that it wont be trumps fault even though its his personal account which begs the questions  who is the actual president. Seems like a Biden auto pen type thing hmmm? Lol

“Praying it was fake because it’s the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House. The President should remove it,” the South Carolina Republican, who’s also the chair of the Senate GOP campaign committee, wrote on X.

I DESPISE the political class (MP’s and the media) SO MUCH in this country. They treat it like a game.

Alistair Campbell “here’s why Mandelson’s conduct is bad news for Labour.”

People were harmed, trafficked, raped, assaulted, abused, traumatised, and that’s the stuff we know about. It’s not about what it looks like politically, it should be about destroying the systems that allow this sickening violence to take place in.
