Would be a better idea to have all American entrants submit valid and full vaccination records before entering the UK. 

 

Something that is a shorter measure than closing airspace and has justification (an RFK run Department of Health clearly doesn't adhere to the health standards for disease prevention that the UK does or expects).

Sweeping statement it may be, that's not to say that the idea hasn't been harmful to quite a few other places (yes, people can feel free to quote WWII at me as one of the very few positive exceptions) or that it isn't potentially and actually harmful to the UK now.

They might speak the same language (well, kind of  ) but whatever shared history, culture and values we had with the USA shrivel up and die slightly, every time we are confronted with what they say and do, and how they treat us.

 

They've made it very clear that what was an advantageous alliance in the 1940s counts for nothing much, now.

 

If the big beast in the 'Anglosphere' is dominated by corrupt brutes, oligarchs, religious zealots, gun nuts, science-deniers and zero sum Capitalists, who threaten allies, support dictators and start wars for which they demand our support, then I'll plump instead to get closer to the civilisation at our doorstep, to which I feel culturally much closer, thank you very much.

Arguably the most damaging periods post 1945 have been the times when we got on best. In particular the Reagan/Thatcher pivot to late stage capitalism which is essentially the root of all our problems in the UK now, and then obviously the Bush/Blair era was a disaster. Things like Suez when they abandoned us actually turned out better for us in the long run.

Can anyone explain to me in a way that I can hopefully understand why this guy was investigated and cleared of being a nonce, but was allowed to have a very well paying role in the BBC for years, yet someone like Mason Greenwood, who was investigated and cleared was practically hounded out of the country?

This time of garbage is driving me more and more insane. I've got a family member serving years in the slammer, the only evidence against him was a story someone decided to tell. I know for a fact he didn't do what he's been convicted of, but we don't have the tens of thousands of pounds needed to fight it, or the "famous" clout to somehow be immune to laws. 

 

Sick to death of this crap tbh. I know the world isn't meant to be fair, but the entire system is broken. 

The police investigated, there was insufficient evidence for a prosecution, no arrests made and no convictions. Mills was therefore not arrested or charged with any crime and free to continue with his life. 

 

The Greenwood case was withdrawn, as the witness withdrew their statement. He was arrested, there was adequate evidence to do so but he wasn't cleared as, it didn't go to trial. But, evidence had been in the public domain which showed his appalling behaviour. 

 

So, the two are quite different. One case had enough evidence of wrong doing for prosecution and one didn't.
