ok so that’s interesting. I wonder if clubs are thinking they can get him for less and that’s why they are not bidding yet.. they are the ones hoping the clause date will expire!

Ok thsts actually a lot for him

Over £30m for a guy whose output wasn’t great last year gives me more hope he’ll stay. I assume Leicester could also dictate that most of the amount is paid in full too?

We would be in a stronger position to keep him then though

Well Newcastle have failed at every transfer so far, hopefully that run continues

Only because their targets were picked up by others so if they do fail it’s only because someone else has signed him 😂

I think - I might be incorrect - that release clauses generally need to be paid in one bulk payment. Often teams will haggle over this (offering more money but split into several payments).

Well if it's £30m that changes things.

As long as we invest back into the squad in areas that we need with players with a higher resale value and improve us then we should sell.

No one is paying 30m

Makes sense why every team has been frightened off. Its actually a good price for us

We have already brought in 30m, why sell a player if the release clause expires that will probably help us achieve promotion ?

the 30m we have brought in should allow for 2 or 3 signs in the 15m+ range

Newcastle interest created by Lcfc to try and force interested clubs to pay the RC pre 15th?????

(Apols to @CL Fox - Percy does say it’s 30m)

Yeah, I suspect this has come from the club given it's Percy reporting it, not Luke Edwards who writes on Newcastle.

Maybe he’s forcing the move….. again.

I'd rather keep him as we desperately need creativity in the middle, but £30m is serious bunce and would bring our summer sales to around £55-£60m with a good three weeks to bring in some quality. A decent striker, a combative midfielder, backup wing backs and a CAM would give us bite.

It won’t help us though will it? Because we will piss about for weeks with this, and then won’t give ourselves enough time to get a replacement and will end up signing Dean Sturridge on a free.

If they dont meet the release clause we should just turn the phone off.

He may have a sulk but the WC is coming up and he will want to make the team.

KDH wouldn’t have been kept till the end of the season, if we would’ve had to submit a business plan like we do this year.

Good point

That would soften the blow a bit if we get £30+ million.

Still think he will be one of the best players in the Championship if he stays though.
