I really hope this is because he backs himself to make this a solid PL gig for himself rather than because they've fed him a load of rubbish as usual. Watching Maresca's rise must help. Shows that obliterating the Championship and playing football in that style will open doors for you. 4

It really isn't normal. Pure incompetence. Not convinced too many on here defend it anymore. The issue is that the majority of people in the stands are either passive or apathetic about the management of the club. The last 5 years should show that there is nothing this management group can do that would make the majority of fans turn aggressively against them. We're stuck with it like this. May as well just laugh about it & try and enjoy it when the odd fluke (Fatawu, Enzo, academy players) brings us some joy. 2

Heard there's a delay because someone told Rudkin to go to pen island .com to get some and he bricked the computer. 4

It’s probably also worth saying that QPR outplayed us for long periods in that game and that the score line somewhat flattered us. 1

I'll take your word for it - I couldn't see too much from my end of the ground. But yes you're correct, the score did flatter us. They also beat us at home when we were in the Championship and I thought they were well organised that day and played some good football against us.
RedSoxUK Posted 10 July 2025 Posted 10 July 2025 2nd season at QPR is a worry, but to be fair... He's a head coach and coming in as head coach, wouldn't have had a proper say in transfers at QPR and I think after the Cooper chaos also won't here. That is a shit QPR side, arguably shitter then Sheffield Wednesday on paper. Id HATE to have that squad.

What managers did against us with a completely inferior team is pretty irrelevant tbh Watched that 4-0 game vs Leeds actually. Was great. GOALS and stuff! Nah - thats nonsense. We went full strength, they didn't play a second team but rotated more than we did. They had a few decent spells but didnt outplay us. The game was heavily affected by the fog, but we weathered them pretty well which with the team we played we should have. This was a game we were crying out for some of the academy to play, and there were rumours of some decent behind the scenes after it.

RobHawk Posted 10 July 2025 Posted 10 July 2025 I think the fact he is clearly desperate to come here, rather than sit at home and pick up his QPR pay check is a huge positive. My main concern with Rohl was always the talk of wanting to go back to Germany. He would not have been as committed as we would want or need. I don't know enough about the guy from managerial point of view to comment but what I can see is I like his desire and you have to hope that he's learnt a lot in the last two years at QPR. If he then will promote the youth as we need, he's half way there before he's started. Personally I'd like him to take a leaf out of marescas book when he went to Chelsea, any ody who doesn't want to be here, or is surplus to requirements can train on their own away from the main group. Let's give some of these guys like faes a soumare a reminder it's in their interest to go as well.

Gerard Posted 10 July 2025 Posted 10 July 2025 (edited) Rohl was/is far and away my first choice, Cifuentes would have been my second choice mainly because he potentially has a higher ceiling than the plodders like Dyche, Wilder and O'Neill. I'd like to know the reasons why we didn't get Rohl. If it was for financial reasons it stinks that we're too tight on budget to bring in the No1 choice in such a crucial role for a club that thought £20m on Skipp a year ago was decent business to improve a CM that already had Winks, Ndidi, Soumare and Choudhury to pick from. Is that offset by PSR? I recon it’s because they’ve forecast our operating costs for the year to be around level with our revenue even with parachute payments. We don’t seem to cut staff etc when we’re relegated ( which I like) even though our revenue will drop significantly this year which will make everything tight.

It was only one more win than Ainsworth 2 seasons prior, who ended up getting the sack after a poor start the following season. Yet this is seen/spun as an upward trajectory by many. Any manager will struggle there its QPR they don't have the luxury of players the top teams have or budgets, hardly surprising. A manager can only do so much with bang average players it doesn't matter if your Pep, if the players are limited technically. 1

I think SW being run by a batshit owner who is trying to sell the club maybe had something to do with it. You still have to negotiate with the club. Also, articles about about how back room staff arent happy to have him back. Maybe, just maybe he didnt interview as well as we had hoped?
