MPH Posted 14 July 2025 Posted 14 July 2025 Full back and defensive mid. Would make sense if some of our other players are leaving
Aleksz Posted 14 July 2025 Posted 14 July 2025 (edited) Toffolo and Lowe are solid championship players with promotion knowhow - but I just don't think we need a left back at all. We have 3 right backs that can play there & cover Thomas even if/when Kristiansen is sold. Edited 14 July 2025 by Aleksz 2
LVFox Posted 14 July 2025 Posted 14 July 2025 I don’t hate this, not of the opinion we massively need a left back and feel the more natural option is Kenneth Paal if we do go for one. He’s always been solid enough though

LcFc_Smiv Posted 14 July 2025 Posted 14 July 2025 I normally laugh at the amount of anger on here, but for this topic to have none? This is as horrible a transfer rumour as I have seen he's poor, even compared to VK! 1
GrobyLCFC31 Posted 14 July 2025 Posted 14 July 2025 Blocking the potential progress of Aluko and Joseph Pass If he signs he’d have played for Derby, Forest, Leicester, Sheff U and Sheff Wed which is a pretty mad collection of clubs

We currently have 6 fullbacks, even with Kristensen leaving we have Thomas, Woyo, JJ and Aluko all capable of playing on the left. Unless they are planning to send Aluko on loan, he offers great depth as 4th/5th choice at both centre back and fullback. Not needed.
RobHawk Posted 14 July 2025 Posted 14 July 2025 Just don't understand how this would even be a consideration. We've collected too many average players and we don't need any full backs. Depending on who goes we literally need 2 or 3 players at most. Striker, creative midfielder and possibly centre back but we need to ship the overpaid dross out first.

Rudkins got to sign a duffer from wasserman to keep them happy after not taking one of their managers (O'Neil/Wilder)

Ricky P, Thomas and Coulibaly already at the club by the way ( provided VK moves on 🤞🏻) Aluko played at LB most of last season for U21’s… We’re potentially going to be under a transfer embargo after another FFP breach and it’s another player you want, who’s going to want HIGHER wages to sit on the bench for us. Aluko and Joseph will be on a fraction of his wages and have already showed that they’re exciting talents ready to be intergrated - but you’re right let’s sign another ACTUAL journeyman to sit on the bench in front of them 🥴 2
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 14 July 2025 Posted 14 July 2025 Interesting - the objections to signing a left back suggest a lot of opinions have changed on Luke Thomas. You don’t need to go back far to find growing disbelief on these boards that we didn’t sell Thomas for £5 million. Personally, I think looking at left back options on the assumption VK departs is not an unreasonable thing to do. It also needs to be remembered that some of our academy prospects could see a greater benefit from securing a loan move and getting regular minutes as a starting option rather than staying with the club and being a squad member with limited first team opportunities.

Especially when 2 of those RB's are already going to have to adjust from u21 football to championship football. If we don't sign a new CB, you are litteraly advocating going into a new season with only one left footed player out of ALL our defensive options (assuming VK leaves). Any team with a decent press will expose that kind of inbalance.

Stadt Posted 14 July 2025 Posted 14 July 2025 Solid championship player but we ought to be setting our sights on Fatawu type players who are great signings with upside in both the first and second tiers. Plus he's 28 so he'll be her until leaves on a free. He's a Wasserman client though so it lands in Rudkin's inbox and he probably ignores what the scouts and analysts find. 1

Justin player LB until about 3 seasons ago The left foot point is a good one (Coulibaly is also left footed) , I’d hope that our CB’s can shift the ball and play off both feet ( Nelson, Vestegaard certainly can) My point is we’ve got enough cover at full back if VK is the only departure For me, signing a late 20’s LB who isn’t better than what we’ve got would be a bizzare move , it would be another stamp on the bingo card of the complete lack of creativity/planning recruitment wise that we’ve seen in the last 3-4 seasons Edited 14 July 2025 by GrobyLCFC31

Even on loan.
Dan Posted 14 July 2025 Posted 14 July 2025 Doesn't bode well for Aluko does it - these links to left backs. Unless both Thomas and Kristiansen are going (doesn't look likely). Wasserman obviously. It's so dodgy.
