Loses points for picking Soumare but let's remember where the blame really lies. Appointing a manager 2 weeks into pre season is absolutely diabolical. Should have been appointed a minimum of 4 weeks before to give him a few weeks of planning then the chance to see the players in training/build up a picture of their personalities etc.

 

Beyond embarrassing at this point.

No excuses for taking so long to get into the game, and no excuses for not doing the basics. Marti should get time obviously, but we've been awful for 50+ minutes of all 3 games so far.

I don't understand where his patterns of play have gone. We saw them start to emerge in the limited pre-season he had, but now the season has started, they've vanished.

 

Had to pay half his own release clause to come to a club that won't back him, to train players who won't put the effort in.

 

He's ****ed until something changes. Or, he works a hat full of miracles, pronto.

Dear Marti,

 

Hope you’re well. We aren’t. 

 

Moving forward could you please:

 

Start Nelson and persist with him. He’s proven at this level and an academy lad. He might take time but we can get behind him as opposed to Faes or Vestergaard. 
 

Start Monga. Simple. 
 

Drop Luke Thomas. He has never been strong or quick enough. He isn’t good enough and isn’t progressing.  
 

Drop Soumare. Key absolutely key. He’s utterly useless and has no future here. 
 

The last one I hate to say but without signings we are forced to…start Daka. Ayew is not a striker. We have no others. Daka is the only other option until we sign someone and at least he can stretch defences for Fatawu/Mav/Monga etc. 

 

Oh and once Bilal is gone, give Alves and Page minutes.

Ok, cool. There are some decent points there but there is no excuse for him repeatedly having Ayew come deep, play it wide for the winger to cross it into an empty box. It's constant and there is no way it's not a managerial instruction. 

 

How can he stand there and watch that over and over again?

But he can make changes, at least mix it up,

move players around. Playing the same shit players and getting the same results every game from them.  Managers with no experience at high level make these poor choices because they are in awe of players. 

 

The only style of play is get the ball to the wingers slowly and don’t offer any support.  If that’s not what he wants then what is he coaching them and will it change.  
 

It looks exactly like nothing has changed.

Sold our main goalie, sold our best CM, Skipp seems to have already been dropped, Vardy gone with no replacement. Haven't signed anyone besides a 38yo goalie.

 

Manager seemingly employed on his ability to promote youth, barely any transfer rumours, middle of August. 

 

Can't blame Marti yet.
