Hardly surprising we aren't making any progress when our training sessions are likely to feature one crap xi versus the other crap xi

I've often thought that.

Our front 4 must think they're the bees bollocks in training against the shiteness of our defence

I think the massive problem we have is the the lack of competition for places. Generally, the same shite will start, regardless of their form. We seem to have a culture where players are confident of keeping their place, whether they put 60% effort in or 100%. We have a seriously frustrating level of arrogance and lack of desire right through our squad (bar a a few players).

The midfield should be Winks, Ricardo and Bilal Skipp and Soumare are just not good enough everyone knows it Marti needs to sort it Ricardo is available for the weekend.

Although obviously preferable to Skipp and Soumaré, that midfield is very lightweight.

The tactics are about ball retention and fast attacking football cutting through lanes they are far superior for this style of play winning balls back is a team effort.

So depressing that our best midfielder is genuinely a perennially injured right back.

Yes Ricardo injury record makes for sad reading a fantastic player maybe he will play more this season like he did under Enzo especially if he is the double pivot with Winks.

Amongst all of this mediocrity and subsequent negativity, it's worth remembering Marti has only been with us for one month tomorrow.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, we were pretty slow starting last time we were in the Championship.

It doesn't take a month to realise that Soumare / Skipp / Daka are not the future for this club.

We thought he would be the Messiah when he came back from injury last time but in reality he was a shadow of his former self and got slammed on here for his very poor performances. So I would not expect a saviour in Ricardo, as good a player that he was.

Not really sure I get the overreaction.

The fact Skipp, Soumare and Daka played last night shows he doesn't fancy them for the league no?

And it doesn’t take 2 seconds to realise they not been replaced.

I think (hope) that he’s used these games to see how Skipp /Soumare  work in proper competitive games, within his system. Hopefully he realises that they are crap!

I'm sure I remember Marti saying that he has his footballing ideas but will be flexible with his setup dependent on the squad and player availability.

Why oh why are you playing Luke Thomas so high up at times then?

I hope it's not another case of a manager trying to force their philosophy on a squad that hasn't got the ability to succeed.

Personally think Soumare is being given every change he can to prove himself. I actually think that is fair enough, but its clearly not working. I expect to see him again against Preston but im not sure how long it will carry on unless we see a change from him. Skipp is suffering from this too. Its an area where Marti doesn't have a lot of options and if we recruit it will have to be someone with experience.

Daka wont start surely?

Trouble is Marti has inherited an absolute clusterfcuk with a bloated squad on big wages and many not wanting to be here whilst the club no doubt expect an immediate return, as supporters we need to recognise this mess is not of his making and back him all the way through what is going to be a challenging season.

personally I would rather see the academy players bloodied in place of the wantaways and wasters, but that is likely to mean a season of transition so as fans we have to be patient and prepared to back Marti. If we act entitled then it makes it even harder for him to shake it up.

I don’t want to see players like Faes, VK, Vestergaard, Winks, Skipp, Soumare or Daka anywhere near the matchday squad, yesterday was good to see so many academy players get meaningful minutes but in the short term results may suffer as a consequence, but as a fan base if we can unite behind the manager and young players the future can be very bright.

I agree with most of that, but is keeping them youth players and other things probably depend on us getting promoted so it’s a balancing act. We have to accept that if they are here come the end of the window, Winks Faes and Yannik need to start.

Serious questions when Soumare playing yet again. He’s put in. 3/10 both games. Massive waddling gimp

Hamza should be there seeing as Justin is starting.

Not saying that's an amazing option, but it's better.

What options does he have if he wants to play a double pivot?
