I'm not going to judge him on his time at the club so far but he has work to do. In possession we were largely too pedestrian tonight, yet when we actually got the ball down and got at them with intent we caused them problems, resulting in us then choosing to slow it down and try and move them around, we don't have the players for it. Defensively we have been calved open a number of times far too easily. He's got to come up with solutions, and whilst I appreciate as others have said new signings will be nice, he has indicated that he has no interest until the squad is reduced in size.

The manager is beginning to recognise that the team is slow not pressing or closing down etc and sounded frustrated last night. In terms of the midfield pairing we don’t know what is going on behind the scenes but it needs resolving. You can’t see a consistent goal scorer in the side either. I’m pleased has had a very good look at the whole squad over the opening games and I’m sure realises that although it is bloated in numbers not everyone is ready to step up. The manager might need to make a stand about early season sales because if Winks or BEK depart it will take some exceptional recruitment to plug the gaps.and Wilf leaving hasn’t helped.

Isnt this like the 4th or 5th manager in a row thats said we’re not quick enough on the press now?

Something really is deeply wrong.

If you pick a team to press and include Soumare then unfortunately there needs to be questions asked.

tbf to MC hes got his work cut out here, needs to try and get rid of alot alot of deadwood, likes of Soumare etc,

thing is this isnt going to be an easy fix either, as do we know if the ones above MC ala Rudkin Top etc have learnt from their mistakes...

It's no surprise when they pick players who are incapable of pressing as well.

Those that are strong at it are Mavididi (sometimes), El Khannouss, Fatawu, Daka. None of our central midfielders are which is a fundamental flaw in a team press.

Thinking about it, it looks to me that theres a deep flaw in the recruitment strategy. We recruit attacking players generally that can press but when it comes to centre mids we recruit players that will have good ball retention statistics and nothing else and that strategy is creating a huge disconnect in the team. Its not feasible to recruit players with good ball retention stats from teams such as Spurs because those stats are skewed by how often they have the ball.

I know they’ve been overly discussed but my goodness Skipp and Soumare are dreadful.

Soumare we know but I had a small inkling of hope that Skipp would produce at this lower level but he seems just as inept as he did at Prem level. Him (and Daka!) just run around aimlessly and offer barely anything - it’s almost like playing with less than eleven

Marti has a big issue here as it’ll take decent investment to resolve this CM issue and we don’t have the funds. Glover needs to find him a loan

Needs the backing of the club to freeze out anyone who seemingly isn't happy here if we can't move them on

Absolutely

We’re going to find ourselves in a continuous downward spiral as the manager appears to be working with an average squad with an attitude problem unless the board changes or the manager can make changes that may seem unpopular. Sometimes to move forward you make changes that in the short term seem counterproductive. The club for all its faults need to allow the manager to do that and not come out in support of the players who need to be moved on.

As a club our standards have slipped substantially and this is against the backdrop of some fans who still think it’s capable of going straight backup. Unlike under Enzo we’re NOT the best club in this league and the signs are ominous with the quality we have across the pitch and the strong suspicion that the club have no intention to refresh the squad unless they move on.

After only a month, how can any manager change what has clearly been there for a long long time. Manage your expectations it helps.

“If he starts Skipp or Soumare at the weekend then he’s in serious trouble”

Who is it you actually expect him to play in midfield with Winks at the weekend then? We have 3 CM’s, one doesn’t want to be here and the other two look like non league players. Like others have said the blokes hands are tied.

Exactly this. He is being forced into a position where he's having to try and get the best out of Soumare and Skipp because we only have Winks as an alternative. We really need to get a few players in, but what's worrying is there aren't any suggestions that's happening.

I’d like him to be brave and stick Louis Page in there, he covers the ground well and is composed on the ball. Might be asking a lot of him mind.

I think by October page will be a regular starter.

Feel sorry for the guy already. The fans have really got to latch onto him because if this season doesn't go the way we need it to, very little of it will be his fault.

Yes totally agree, we're in a mess and it isn't his fault.

Sick of the negativity at this club, mistakes have happened but are we going to dwell on them for the next 50 years.

IMO we have to move on with what we have left on September 1st, with a clean slate.

We need to focus all our fight against the EFL and the impending points deduction.

He absolutely has and I agree. But it’s been said elsewhere, has he left the door too open to players like Soumare, should he be training on his own to show him he isn’t welcome here?

I know we are desperate for cash and would probably accept 50p and him off our wage bill, but we have left the door wide open for him.

Along with plenty of others on here, I quite like Marty Cifuentes, and recognise what an absolute shit-show he has inherited. However, if he continues with his experiment of fielding a ten-man team (ie. ten players plus Soumaré) I am going to lose faith pretty quickly.

We have to give him time. He has a a squad that should be capable, with work, to do very well. He is looking at the players and trying to change the tactics and mental approach.

I've seen enough in segments of games to say, once he has his settled team and he has had time with them, we will be fine.

For what its worth page with winks will do the trick.

We desperately, desperately need some new players to lift the squad.

Need to get rid of the toxic ones first before any new ones come in and adapt to the unforgivable culture within the club

Totally agree we must give him time to evaluate the squad and club .... he had little preseason... but his first job is to get shut of those who don't want to play for Leicester City.... sideline them / tell them to find another club ... and work with and pick the committed players only ... I fully accept losing games as long as I see a side play with effort and passion ....

Im just a bit concerned on how much actual research he has done on our club before his appointment. Surely he's studied last season and seen the glaring flaws in the team (Soumare/Skipp/Daka) ok it was against prem league sides but all the same it is obvious they are not good enough. So to see him setting  his midfield the engine room of the team with Soumare and Skipp is absolutely shocking. That's a big red flag for me. Obviously its 2 games so stupid to right him off yet, but if that pattern continues then he's orchestrating his own downfall.

I'd go to 3 in the middle with Choudhury sitting and Winks starting. That's also the only way you might get enough out of Soumare but if not might aswell give Page a go.
