Issue we'll have now is, he'll probably come in and have a nervy first game, get pelters from those defending him not getting a game and be binned off by Marti again. We really just need to persist with him.

I couldn’t give a shit what Marti thinks about players because he has shown that he knows **** all, can’t improve players and continues to reward the dross with game time. 
 

It might be a blessing to keep Ben away from this clown.  He has already made Monga into a hybrid of Mavadid and Ayew.  Reducing that raw energy and arrogance/confidence of youth into a contestant in the LCFC standing still step over challenge. 

 

Those two and Fatawu deserve a better manager with actual tactics and better players around to improve them,

Its obvious that any new manager, not just Marti would start with the experienced pair.

 

It would appear, Okoli and Faes are competing for one spot and Nelson is back-up for Vestergaard.

He isn't reliable, he just makes less mistakes (sort of).

 

Yet again how slow was Vestergaard, in reacting, for Blackburn's second goal. Every time. Player gets across him and Vestergaard is trying to block too late. Always the same.

How slow is our build up play as well. Its appalling. Teams can get into any formation they want when the Jakub passes the ball to Vestergaard, who goes sideways / backwards (and maybe to Sourmare who give it straight back again).  I was raging watching this when we were chasing a game.

 

Also - did everyone notice his little cameo up front towards the end of the game on Saturday. I couldn't work out if it was under instructions or if he just couldn't be arsed running back to defend.

Don’t want to make it sound like there’s always something to moan about and they’re damned if they do/if they don’t, but if true it’s fantastic that we’ve finally decided to throw him in against one of the top 2 teams in the league and not the “easier run” of games we’ve been on. couldn’t write it.

Baffling really how much seemed to be made of Ben over the summer, even getting the armband in some preseason matches, and then close to nothing so far this season. Hope the rumours are true that he starts tomorrow. Has been the best centre back on our books for about a year now

Hopefully it also means 3-5-2 as neither Thomas or Kristensen are at the level, so takes out the LB issue.

 

Aluko could be great but would he last a full 90 minutes? If not, we'd then need to change the shape of the team mid-way through the game. That's why it's important he gets some exposure from the bench so can start easing into the 1st team.

I would tend to agree, but I think Marti is reaching the point where he has little choice.

 

A last chance saloon scenario.

 

If he does play, its quite clearly because theres a feeling of needing to play him, not wanting to play him.

 

I actually don't mind Vestergaard,  id keep him in & put Nelson with him. Faes & Okoli offer much less than Vestergaard (which in itself says a lot).
