Leicester City’s Jannik Vestergaard will be out for at least a month, according to Bold in Denmark.

Last summer, Vestergaard insisted he wants to drag the Foxes out of the Championship. He’s been a regular for Leicester City, making 24 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

The Denmark international has made only three appearances since the league defeat to Queens Park Rangers on December 20th. Injuries have restricted his minutes in recent weeks.

The 33-year-old fitness has been a concern for Denmark ahead of the World Cup play-off against North Macedonia on March 26th.

Say what you want about the shambles that is LCFC but we have had appalling luck with injuries this season.

Ramsey, Vestergaard, James, Okoli, Kristiansen all with long termers this season; Reid at the start of the season as well. Probably many more, Souttar setback etc.

I do wonder how much of this might be down to coaching, overall fitness, medical staff ect. Plus throw into the mix, players are less likely to want to have a speedy return to a team that is so abjectly failing.

King’s Pre-FA Cup Fitness Update
Andy King

We go into Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round tie at Southampton with no fresh injury concerns, as Jeremy Monga nears a return to contention.
Jeremy Monga could play a part for us at Southampton on Saturday
We tackle the Saints in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round at St. Mary’s
Jannik Vestergaard is set for a spell on the sidelines
Victor Kristiansen has been on the bench over recent games and could be included
Jamaal Lascelles’ minutes have been monitored since joining the Club
Leicester City head to St. Mary’s for a 3pm GMT kick-off on Saturday, hoping to put our name into the hat for the fifth-round draw after defeat by the same opponents in the league on Tuesday night.
Monga was out for that 4-3 reverse at King Power Stadium, which saw us lose a three-goal advantage, but the Academy graduate could be included in the squad this time around.
“Jez will be fine,” First Team Coach Andy King told the media on Thursday afternoon. “He trained this morning, trained really well, so fingers crossed, we’re hoping and expecting he should be available.”
Jeremy Monga
Jannik Vestergaard , however, is set for a spell on the sidelines: “He’s going to be out for a while. It’s obviously a shame for us, he’s played a lot for us this season, but apart from that, we’re okay.
“We’ll look at it later about who fits for this game best.”
Left-back Victor Kristiansen  has returned to the bench over recent weeks after a period out, while other players – including defender Jamaal Lascelles’ – will see their workloads managed where necessary.
“Victor was in the squad on Tuesday,” King added. “He’s one who’s been out for a while who will be back. [The longer-term injured players] are not going to be back any time soon, so nobody you haven’t seen over the last couple of weeks, apart from Victor, will be back.”
Asked about Lascelles , King – who also discussed midfielder Joe Aribo  – continued: “I thought he was brilliant against Birmingham in the hour or so which he gave us.

“But it was only ever going to be that, just because I think that was his first competitive game since his ACL. That takes a year out of his career as it is. Then he obviously hadn’t played at Newcastle for six months either.
“You’re looking at between 18 months and two years since his [last] competitive game, so it’s only fair to do right by him and not try and give him too much too soon.
“We gave him the minutes against Birmingham, we’d have loved to have left him on for longer because he was having a really good game. Then it wasn’t fair to turn him around for Tuesday. He’s definitely one we have the manage. It’s the same with Joe [Aribo].
“Joe’s situation is probably a little bit different, in terms of he has been playing for Southampton a little bit more regularly.
“Obviously he’s had this week where he couldn’t play in the two Southampton games, so hopefully by the time the cup game’s over, he’ll have had a week where he’s had minutes against Birmingham and now he’ll be up to speed as well.”

If we can get James, Fatawu and at least one of lascelles and vestergaard back before 10th March against Bristol city at home then ill take that. I doubt we get much from Middlesbrough and ipswich away anyway. The others dont matter that much as they won't improve the team i.e ayew, choudhury, kristiansen, Ramsey.

It just means we will probably have to win at least 4 of the last 10 and draw a few.

Wasn't there a suggestion that James might've been on the bench today? Can't be far away :fc:

Got a good feeling we get JJ on the bench Saturday. Think the manager is being cute about his return to keep it under wraps a bit.

I think they’ll be careful not to rush him back

wales will want him for their play offs so he’ll have more stress in month one than we’d like him to have

Rowett’s Fitness Update: Lascelles, James & Fatawu
Gary Rowett

by Sam Stevens

Jamaal Lascelles and Jordan James have trained this week but their fitness will need to be assessed before Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship contest against Norwich City.
Gary Rowett has provided an update on Leicester City’s fitness situation
We host Norwich City at King Power Stadium on Saturday (12:30pm kick-off)
The Foxes are currently 22nd in the Sky Bet Championship table on the back of two successive away draws

Jamaal Lascelles and Jordan James have trained, while Abdul Fatawu could be involved again after returning at Boro
The Canaries visit King Power Stadium for a lunchtime 12:30pm kick-off, as Gary Rowett’s Leicester City look to build on successive draws at Stoke City and Middlesbrough with all three points on home soil.
We’ve had some key senior players out over previous weeks, but work continues at Seagrave to get them back in contention, as Lascelles and James trained this week.
“Jamaal [and] Jordan trained today,” the Foxes Manager told reporters on Thursday. “It’s assessing those players tomorrow, making good, sensible decisions.
“We’re looking at Saturday but we’re also looking at the games after that. We want players available for long periods, not just a game or two, to help out.

Jamaal Lascelles was in training this week.
“Those two, for example, would be important players to get back in the squad. If we can do that safely, we will do.
“We can’t afford too many more [injuries]. In think we’re okay. I think everyone got through the [Boro] game. We’ve spoken about low numbers in different areas of the pitch.
“Being a Tuesday night game, it allows us a couple of days to just manage those players and give them a little bit extra recovery space and time if we need to. Hopefully, by the weekend, hopefully we’ll be fresh and ready to go.
“I think that’s a big thing at this stage of the season, making sure we’ve got the right energy. I don’t think massive training load is necessarily important.
“We should be in a similar position, hopefully with one, maybe a couple, of players back at least available for the bench."
Abdul Fatawu missed the trip to Stoke last weekend, but emerged from the bench at Boro, with Rowett hoping he can play a role again on Filbert Way on Saturday.

.
“I think he’ll be fit enough to start,” he explained. “I don’t necessarily think it was a case of managing minutes. It’s hard to do that in the frenzy of the Championship.
“Sometimes you have to make reasoned decisions. If I’d have started him, there’d be every chance he probably wouldn’t be available for this game at all.
“There hasn’t been any reaction for that, he’s trained this morning, so I think he’ll be good to go however we want to use him. He’s obviously a very good player so we obviously want him available.”
All times GMT.
