CloudFox Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 I'm not familiar with how Turkish clubs do business, but is this definitely a done deal now? The post/article from Besiktas just says they have entered negotiations. So it could still fall through...? Then again, I suppose you'd hope the club were pretty confident a deal was going through if they announced this, as—correct me if I'm wrong—I think they're one of those clubs that have to announce business to the stock exchange/shareholders...?

Ricardo especially wouldn't have looked out of place playing for any side in the world during that period. We were so strong in so many positions in 2019/20. Had a good goalkeeper, the centre half partnership complemented each other well, two very good full backs, a really nicely balanced midfield. The only real fumble for me was the Perez signing who was an ill-fit for the role and a sign of things to come. That team in hindsight underachieved only coming 5th. 5

Pretty sure there was a similar article to this for Akgün a day or two before we announced he'd signed. They tend to do it when it's all done bar minor details. 1

ozvaldo Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 I’ll always remember the way he set Traore up for Villa’s last min winner at home in that disastrous season. 2

I really see it as a 'what might have been'. We lost over two legs in a league cup semi final against Villa who ended up surviving due to a technical fault that season and missed out on top four because we collapsed at Bournemouth and couldn't beat Brighton or Southampton at home. We didn't underachieve the following season though. We had Europe to contend with and won the FA cup. I still wouldn't swap winning the FA cup for top four that season either.

Popular Post Tielemans63 Posted 6 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 6 August 2025 (edited) On the plus side, £9m is decent business for a player who is past his best. I hope he does brilliantly in Turkey. On the downside, it's a bit sad to see a long serving player leave - especially as he's been a real fans favourite for most of it. The way he bought into all things Leicester was really impressive. More importantly, he was probably our best CM. Our options in central midfield are pretty awful now he's gone 😕 Edited 6 August 2025 by Tielemans63 8
TeamRocket Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 Sad to see him go but think this is defo showing we are starting fresh and maybe the fresh start we should have had a few seasons ago when we 1st went down.. Hopefully, the new up and coming boys can be the next legends in the making and bring some excitement back to the club.

Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 6 August 2025 Author Popular Post Posted 6 August 2025 Massively great servant to our football club, I suspect he might be the last player we have for 9 seasons again for a while. Periods of those 9 years he bordered on top quality, especially the first 2 years under Brendan from March 2019. Whilst his injuries and form effected him back end of 2020/21 his performance in the FA Cup final was excellent, one of the unsung heroes that day IMO. Another underrated period / element of his game was the chipped stand up crosses to the back post that he delivered numerous times under Enzo two seasons ago. We won some crucial points courtesy of those if I remember rightly. Turkish football has had a bit of a renaissance in recent seasons and I think this is a very good move for him. I will watch with interest. Thanks for the memories Wilf, you genuinely did go on to be a defensive midfield warrior here in your own right post N'Golo Kante, which is no easy task. 10
