MPH Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 (edited) Exclusive: Norwich Eye Permanent Move for Callum Doyle Amid Leicester and Sheff Utd Interest Manchester City and England Under-21 defender, Callum Doyle, is being closely tracked by Leicester City and Sheffield United. However, Norwich City is ready to make a bid for the £8-10 million valued player following a successful loan spell last season. City rejected a £6.5 million bid for Doyle in June, and he has expressed interest in a permanent move to Norwich. Doyle has represented England at various youth levels and is considered a rising talent in the football world https://www.sportsboom.co.uk/football/transfer-news/exclusive-manchester-city-ace-callum-doyle-being-tracked-by-leicester-and-sheffield-united-but-norwich-city-ready-to-pounce Edited 22 August 2025 by Finnegan
AndyLimpey Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Based on what we saw of him here he has a ceiling based on his lack of mobility, which can never be solved by simply getting more experience. I don't think he's mobile enough for a full back and I don't think he has the physicality for a two man centre back pairing. His best position is probably as a left centre half in a back three, anywhere else he gets exposed unless surrounded by elite players. Plus he's the same age as Kristiansen, who for me, has far more of the attributes required for a full back in the modern game. I wouldn't be as quick to throw VK away as some, a full season in the Champ for a 22 year old could bring him on leaps and bounds. Problem for him, is the re-emergence of Luke Thomas. 2
LCFCJohn Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Hard pass. I wasn’t impressed with him when he was here before and he has hardly kicked on. Yeah sure could do a decent job this season but it does seem his ceiling is Championship. 3
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 We don’t need him, doesn’t fit our style and even if he did we’re stacked in his position(s) 1
FosseSpark Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Id take him and ship Faes & Vestergaard purely based on wages and so i dont have to see them play, but striker and cdm is our priority.
coolhandfox Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Not watch him at Norwich, but here under Enzo he was never played in his actual position. We currently have Okoli, Nelson, Faes, Vestergaard and Souttar on the books, we can't really bring in a CB with at least on of those going.
James_lcfc Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Thought he was a good footballer with a quality left foot. One of the slowest players I’ve ever seen live though - Made Vestergaard look quick which is quite the feat. 2

We're 100% in for a CB. I mentioned Chris Mepham earlier in the window. Weve looked at other targets too. 5

I find that odd unless we are still moving one of Faes, Vestergaard or Okoli on. We still have Souttar back in the next few months as well. 1
Guest BlueApple Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Doyle is a funny one, on paper he's 21 year old, English defender who has over 100 league appearances at some good clubs, lots of England appearances and came through the Man City academy but there's a reason why he's being linked with the Championship, I think he may turn out to be in the Huckerby/Nugent zone, too good for the Championship but not good enough Premier League.
ceebeefox Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 He’s a left sided centre half who played left back here, and we don’t need a centre half, just like we didn’t need Coady.
rico Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 If we have £8-10 million it should be being spent on a goalscorer 2
Buzzell Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Don’t need him. There’s more important areas that need addressing.
moore_94 Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 From what I remember he was very good on the ball but very slow Almost like another Vestergaard
Finnegan Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Probably just chucking our name in to add a bit of spice to a stale story. Doubt there's owt in it. 4
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 No better than our own youth products thanks 1

Spudulike Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 I thought that he was decent under Enzo until he got injured keeping him out for weeks. Loved how much it triggered the diagonal walkers when he signed for us.
Fox92 Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Amazed by some of the responses considering when he was here this forum seemed to love him. 1

slymunn Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 If we are playing a similar style to Enzo he's great as the LB/CB role. If he's going to be either just a CB or LB I'm not sure he's really what we need. 2
