You feel hopeful whenever he gets the ball - those types of players feel like they've been few and far between for us for ages. Love him

Brilliant tonight. Heard the Plymouth coach has been delayed because their right back is having counselling in the changing room.

Very good performance again. Seems to have the ball glued to his feet and is definitely quicker than I gave him credit for.

Good to see him tracking back as well. Dont want to see him dropped for Watson again really.

Brilliant tonight.

Looks way too good for this league

How the **** didn't he start on Saturday.

Martin really is a pillock

Get the feeling he’ll prefer Watson/Burns away from home for their defensive contributions.

Agreed with others though, he’s the first name on the sheet for me. A joy to watch.

Weird burning smell throughout the game, suddenly realised it was Alves having their full back on toast.

Visibly grew in confidence after the goal, showing off with a few tricks and neat touches.

My brother in laws son played alongside him for the academy years ago

Said he always stood out and would go on to big things

You simply cannot drop him with the form he’s in, everytime he got the ball tonight you knew he could make things happen

Ridiculously talented and surely one of the first names on the team sheet

Alves is getting better and better. His touch, poise and turn of pace was phenomenal. He is also getting stronger with every game. Him, Braybrooke and Page could do something really special this season 🤞

Great fun to watch and seems to have a fantastic attitude.

We've missed having a player like this for some time now. It felt like tonight we needed someone to link up with him more at times, to mix up the direct running that caused them so many problems.

If we can get him running in behind more with a decent target man either on the end of things or occupying defences, his stats could be off the chart.

Interesting after the game that Russell said he was told that Alves was going to be heading out on loan again this season but RM said after 2 weeks of pre season he told the club Alves was going nowhere. Would have been an insane decision to have loaned him out again.

Fair play to Martin if that's true. Absolutely ridiculous that it needed him to do that though.

His running power/speed is exceptional and he's got that really understated acceleration where he doesn't look like he's motoring, but he's basically up to full speed in his first stride
