Watching the game last night Ayew's penalty was one of the worst I have seen, but my vote for the worst was the one Yann Kermogant missed against Cardiff in the play-offs.

I've seen so many penalty shoot-outs recently, it amazes me how bad most professional footballers are.  It seems they practice their ridiculous run-up's more that actually striking the ball correctly.

Madders at home to Everton might be worth a mention when you think how vital them points could have been.

Taking into account  the butterfly effect, it’s this.

Yann’s in many ways did us a favour long term

I was thinking exactly that.

Players on £millions per year, who can't even kick a ball properly, with no one else within 10 yards.

It set us back a couple years until Pearson thankfully came back. We ended up losing Pearson and then having two or three seasons of spending money but not achieving anything, signing high profile players on big wages. We would never have signed players such as Beckford or Mills if we'd had gone up under Pearson in 2010.

Pearson was gone regardless of whether we went up or not in 2010. The new owners wanted a 'big name'. So it wasn't so much Kermogant that set us back 2 years, it was King Power.

As someone who just wellied any penos, can anybody actually tell me why pretty much all players nowadays do that stupid stutter runup? at the point of actually hitting the ball they are effectively hitting it from a standstill, and get zero power on it.

You want to watch England women's v Sweden in this year's Euro's. Not an exaggeration to say that some of those looked worse than Sunday League

Because as with everything is football now, you must try to outsmart the opposition rather than outskill them.

Maddison Vs Everton is up there

For me thats the one. The importance of that one spot kick at that very time in that most important of games seals it. It 'could' have been such a pivotal moment but it ended up pivoting the season the totally wrong way.

Maddison Vs Everton factually. The implications of missing/scoring that is exactly why we're here today and it was a woeful fart into the hands of Pickford, no intent behind it.

...and to think he only did it purely for selfish reasons to grab a ball to celebrate the announcement he was having twins.

This is why I’m pleased he’s now injured.

Wellying it certainly worked for Bilal

Like he thought he was going to throw the keeper and casually slot it in like he’s Ronaldo 😂😂 I f**king despise the guy.

Not even close to Kermogant's.

Maddisons miss is why we went down in the end, without that we are unlikely to be in the state we are now. It was the most crucial penalty in our history.

On a similar note, remember an absolute howler from Hume on a must win game v I think Sheffield Weds in the championship relegation season

That's overstating it a bit I'd say.

It's not like that was on the final day and his miss meant we went down or that we went down on GD because of it.

There's several other reasons why we went down. That penalty miss was a reason, not the reason. Can think of many others involving other players who were worse than him that caused our relegation.
