Why not try McAteer as a striker? He has bags of energy and has a great work ethic. He'll press from the front. Maybe doesn't have the footballing intelligence, but at least he plays like he cares. Mav/Monga and fats on the wings screams pace.

I don't know, we need to try something. But I fear another Preston performance, but Charlton have the positivity from promotion which is a powerful thing.

I think we'll lose again but this time see players with even less enthusiasm. 2-0

And we thought the opening fixtures were kind to us lol

Finally decided to watch the Preston highlights. The first goal was bad but the second, **** me. Faes doesn’t want to be booed ? Vestegaard still starting ? Okoli wants Ac Milan ? With guys like this on our side, we are in for a long and horrible season.

Not really bothered if some of them aren’t ready. I’d sooner watch players that care.

Assuming BEK is gone

Stol

Aluko

Faes

Okoli

Thomas

Winks

RiccyP (if not, Hamza)

Fatawu

Ayew

Mavididi

Daka

Monga, Page, Alves off the bench. Law of averages that one of Ayew/Daka has half a shooting boot on them.

I've said this before, as he seems to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time and isn't a terrible finisher. His skillset never really feels suited to the wing (he's not that fast, skillful or good at crossing)

I think he gets off very lightly by our fans because he's been here so long but he's not very good , we should've bit Sunderland hand off in January

No perfectly calm and reasonable. What’s wrong with Faes “chasing back” like he has bladder problems only to arrive on Monday morning, hands out and a little wave to the away end. Can’t boo that, it’s mean. His fluffy unkept make him look like a 5 year old who has just woken up. Bless, it’s how he plays too.

I know, let’s change the over used moto from #fearless to #notmyfaultImabushyhaired****ingmoron

Perfectly calm and reasonable analysis.

Any way newly promoted Charlton, at the Valley where we shit the bed usually.

Through the good and bad times.

He’s got little stick after Preston which has shocked me.

During the game, my perception was that he thinks he’s going to walk it at this level. And when being subbed, deliberately choosing to walk the opposite way around the pitch to avoid us and end up clapping the Preston fans tells me everything I want to know about him.

I'm going on Saturday. I don't drink much, and definitely not early doors, but have advised my mate I will need a beer on the train from Harpenden to help ease me through what I might witness from 12.30

Have a pint of London Pride in the Harpenden Arms before getting the train!  Yes, I used to live there -  from 1988 to 1998

I forgot it´s an early kick-off. Go to the Arms later to celebrate our stunning victory!

Ricky P definitely in training, hopefully fit to smart. If we can line up with him and right back and JJ at left back, Marti-ball can actually take a bit more shape.

Marti Cifuentes Pre-Match Press Conference vs Charlton

Injuries

Ricardo is doing ‘very well’. "He was very eager to come with the team so he travelled to Preston, but we didn't risk him. It’s very good news for us."

Kristiansen is training individually, and will be 'several' more weeks.

James Justin was brought off against Preston last weekend with an injury. Cifuentes confirmed that it was just a 'dead leg' and could feature on Saturday. "He’s progressing and we’ll make a decision tomorrow."

Jake Evans hasn't been in the team at the start of the season. Cifuentes was asked whether this was injury related, but he confirmed that wasn't the case

I think he's a talented player. Not all the players that I like will be in the team every week, it doesn't mean I don't trust them. He's still very young. We thought it would be beneficial for him to play some minutes with the U21s. He's been training with us today.

Reports this week have suggested that the club has received a bid for midfielder Bilal El Khannouss. Cifuentes was asked if that was true and whether he expected him to depart before the end of the transfer window

I think there's going to be speculation about all of our players, because they're good players. There's 10 days left. The realist is that Bilal is with us and a very good player. It's speculation and I'm sure you can understand I won't comment on that.

The City boss was asked about the frustration felt by a portion of the fans currently. There was clear frustration in the away end against Preston last weekend.

It was a little bit of a surprise for me, but I've said before the nature of being a fan is to have emotions about the team. I respect they they weren't happy.

I will try my best to make this connection stronger and show that these players are trying hard. They need to feel like we represent them and play for the badge. I promise I will do my best to make them feel proud.

We will work on it and togetherness is key to success.

Finally, Cifuentes was asked what he expects from Saturday's trip to Charlton

They did really well last season to get promoted. It's a historic club. I expect a good atmosphere there. It will be another important test that we know what is required to compete in this league.

Watching the 'preparation video' on the official page, there is no enthusiasm or banter, it's all silent and no laughing. There isn't any team spirit there at all.

That is another issue.

Last season they were having a right laugh in the training videos every week and then were 3-0 down inside 20 minutes.

Ricardo will make a huge difference if he’s available. Need him to invert though, he’ll break down if asked to charge up and down the pitch.

I don’t think BEK plays if close to move. Ayew in the 10, Daka up front and Evans on the bench.

We need a response after last week. To some it might feel too early for a must win but I think this is - for morale more than anything.

The question should've included they are frustrated "because you are serving up the same shit tactics, same useless players and results that the fans have seen with the last two idiots."

By not saying why the fans were frustrated, it gives the manager an out to play ignorant rather than give him something to think about.

No, no, no Marti.

We need specifics here because all of our players are definitely not good lol
