Good win, a bit of a slog at times but good to see us doing the dirty work and really restricting them to nothing. 

 

I think though, it really highlighted that even when Skipp and Soumare have a good game (and they did) we need a creative player in there to compliment them. We don't have that. So a ACM and a striker really is essential. 

 

On top of Bouba and Skipp, I think Vesty was excellent but the stand out for me was Hamza. He was a rock for the second game in a row at RB.

Shows the difference at this level with a bit of top quality when it matters. Abdul and a couple of others really could carry us a long way. 

 

Dog shit game, boring but who cares. Shame we didn't get the point at Preston but it's still been a good start overall without playing well at all

I loved that, far from perfect or pretty but bloody hell what a difference it is to see players giving their all and battling for everything. 
 

Again I will say it so many criticised Enzo for no plan B and an inability to grind out results or win games in an ugly manner, and yet first things I see is we have been dominated by a side who were in league one last season. 
 

Point 1 - much like under Brendan and to some degree under Enzo they did have more possession but it was largely played in front of us and without a cutting edge. 
 

Point 2 - we have found a way to win without dominating the ball, we have found a way to be difficult to break down.

 

If we can bring in 1 or 2 quality players and add that creative edge will be in a very very good place. 
 

That is a big big win

doesn't stretch the play, doesnt hold the ball up effectively (got to actually release the ball to the runners). He should not be playing up front. Was he less shit once he wasn't up front, sure, but then he's not better than Page or BEK

Didn't think much of the overall performance again but these wins must, gradually, build confidence and fluency. I've almost entirely given up hope of any signings but fingers crossed when the window closes that certainty will at least bring some sort of focus and closure.

 

Vestergaard was excellent, much better from Soumare and even Skipp started to resemble a footballer. If we do end up relying on individual quality at times then there won't be many better individuals at this level than Fatawu and Monga. Lovely for Ricardo to score. Other than the almost team-wide reluctance to be positive and take responsibility for getting the ball up the pitch, the biggest negatives for me were Mavididi was completely anonymous and not for the first time, Okoli is truly horrific on the ball and Thomas really doesn't look up to much.

 

Yet again we look so much better with an actual striker on the pitch - ideally that's a new signing but for the moment it's Daka, so play Daka. The chances of him scoring a goal seem more remote than ever but his movement, link play and work off the ball make a huge difference.

 

I'm not sure there's much point trying to understand this team on any level but from the body language, players being vocal in supporting their teammates but also bollocking them when necessary, the work rate, the celebrations for the goals and at full-time: Marti seems to have the majority onside. Please just give him some new signings and if there are players who aren't buying in then do whatever we can do **** them off.

I really liked the celebrations at the end. Marti has them believing and enjoying their football, that's massive. 

The way they are seemingly becoming a team, is only a good thing. Fatawu dancing around like wed just won a trophy, something feels right inside the club right now. The fight the lads are showing, comments about Marti being the new Pearson, I don't think they're far off the mark. He's building something, getting the players to be a unit. 

 

And, it's clear the standard between the Championship and the Premier League is massive. Will enjoy the seasons ups and downs, but if Brum were one of the favourites, and we don't get docked too many points. I think we will have a good season.

Made a bright start? We were the better in the first ten

 

We finished 18th in a prem and have massively depleted out squad. They battered L1 and then spent loads .. even id say
