If Soumare or Winks go in January for a nominal fee rather than on a free come the summer then it's got to be Besfort Zeneli.

 

He's the complete package of a defensive central midfielder who can contribute going forward too, a but like Declan Rice. Excellent set piece taker too.

I could see Winks being let out on loan for 6 months before being released. Somewhere where he can just get off the wage bill for a bit.

This was just the obvious choice wasn’t it, I doubt he turned us down.. more that we didn’t make our interest concrete. All if’s and but’s - clear to see he had pedigree to score goals in the championship, hopefully Carranza can hit the ground running.

We probably couldn't move on enough players to free up the required cash to make a move for him.

 

Two goalkeepers on frees and three loan deals doesn't seem like we generated the required profit.

We seem to have found ourselves in a situation where we have 3 forwards with just one attribute required of an all round forward at this level 

 

Daka - pace

Ayew - hold up play

Carranza - good touch

 

We desperately need someone who has all 3 of those attributes plus a killer instinct in the box.

 

Dare I say that not taking a punt on Richard Kone at £2m could be the reason we don’t go up this season. But that ship has sailed now so Glover needs to be doing everything to find whoever this player is for us in Jan

Anis Mehmeti's contract is up at the end of the season, it's worth having a go with a small fee in January. Smashing it for Bristol City this season.

 

These are all out of contract in 2026 too.

 

Hugo Bolin at Malmo too, although he mostly plays LW where we're pretty strong.

We probably need two actually defensively capable across January and the summer. Norwich bought jacob Wright for £5m but don't seem to start him. 4 assist in 900 minutes last season.
