Without getting carried away, don't think we can get someone better than Tuchel.

Would've probably lost this sort of match under Hodgson etc.

Miles and miles ahead of Serbia so far. We genuinely look more comfortable against these than we did against Latvia and Andorra.

Possibly because there was a general sense of low expectation of a positive result against this sort of team, meaning less pressure on the players?

That's a very good half. Been easy.

Yep. Back in the day, Serbia away in Belgrade would have been a huge banana skin.

We've breezed through it as if we're playing Cyprus.

Serbs are going to end up playing behind closed doors.

They just can't behave themselves.

Is this a general cultural thing with them, or is it just in football?..

You do want the best nations at a tournament. Brazil v Liechtenstein, England v Maldives and Argentina v St Vincent & The Grenadines would be a waste of time for all involved.

So should there be a seeding system whereby the lesser teams have to go through a qualifying stage of their own before reaching the main qualifiers? It seems rather pointless that the likes of the bigger national teams are pitted against Andorra or lichtenstein who are realistically unlikely to get to the group stages.

I've thought this, but then come back to wondering how these small nations' game becomes viable if they're only playing each other.

For mostly amateur associations, the TV money they get every couple of years when the BBC or ITV wants the rights to Andorra/San Marino etc v England most likely keeps their FA going until the next time. How much TV money, gate receipts etc is Liechtenstein v Gibraltar realistically going to generate?

3-0 England.

Scrappy goal, but England are ridiculously comfortable. Definitely a side who raise their game against better opposition.
