Is Kasper the best keeper we've had since 1992? I always felt he was a competent rather than exceptional goalkeeper but his value was magnified by his character. I'm a bit too young to fully remember the likes of Keller or Flowers but from what I can remember they were very good goalkeepers and would wonder if anyone had an opinion on whether they might have a shout?

I can remember football most from 96 onwards.

So those three would be the shout for keeper.

Ricardo is clearly ahead for RB, before he got injured he looked an elite wingback to me, I can't think of a deficiency in his game.

As others have said we've had top drawer centrebacks over the years but I can't see past Morgan and Huth who routinely shut out the finest attackers the game has ever seen. I think Huth has a shout as being the most impactful signing a PL club has ever made - turned a relegation-destined defence into one that stayed up comfortably then won the league.

LB I agree is between Guppy and Fuchs in my life time, I think just because it's uncertain whether Guppy would have the same impact in the current game given the pace it is played at, I'm going with Fuchs.

Centre-mids - I'm going Kante (by miles) and Tielemans. Lennon and Drinkwater are unlucky here and shoutout to Cambiasso. I don't remember Garry Parker very well but know he was a big player for us too.

Mahrez on the right, obviously. Uncontested.

The left wing is possibly our most underwhelming position. It's probably a choice between Albrighton and Barnes, or changing the formation to the 3 at the back we were better known for in the last 90s/early 2000s. I think I'd go Albrighton honestly, I don't think you win that title or get to the QF of the Champions League without him.

At 10 - Izzet. A top Premier League playmaker for years in a weaker side than the likes of Maddison played in. One of the most underrated players the PL has seen.

And obviously it's Vardy up top. Heskey is your sub.

Kasper

Ricardo Morgan Huth Fuchs

Kante Tielemans

Mahrez Izzet Albrighton

Vardy

Subs: Flowers, Elliott, Lennon, Guppy, Heskey plus however many of the rest of the above you allow depending on era.

Very underrated. Think of where the club was before he became No 1 - hadn't been in the too flight for years, but he was one of the missing pieces of the puzzle for that '93-'94 campaign when we finally reached the promised land.

Hard done by to only get appearances in our first ever Premier League season, but glad someone else recognises his talent.

And a great chant... Gavin Ward, My Lord...

That is such a ****ing iconic keepers shirt imo.

So probably the difference is much less than I made out in my post but I think Flowers was really underrated. I think he might have been the best shot stopper England had in that era but Seaman was perhaps more consistent and was elevated by the back four he played with. But when Flowers was on it he was almost superhuman. Banzai goalkeeping.

Sums up the rise and fall on national teams. When we had Seaman, Martyn and Flowers for a period any of whom would have been amazing No1's. Then there's been a dearth since then really (Hart was great and Pickford has been good for England but the fact he's got nearly 100 caps is crazy)

Flowers was quite comfortably better than Kasper imo, although obviously the latter has more legendary status.

Waller was better than both…. Should’ve played for England if it wasn’t for that pesky Shilton

Come on, not in terms of individual ability it isn't. The brilliant thing about our title winning team was that it was greater than the sum of it's parts. No Leciester "team" is coming close to them, but we're picking individual players based on their own ability. Ricardo is a better player than Simpson.

Arguably only that position and Drinkwater then. Id say Simpson is a better defender than Ricardo. Certainly that season he was. Ricardo is obviously better going forward but Simpson wasn't ever that kind of player. Which is why these debates are always quite futile.

It's almost like some of the older lot are a bit gutted they can't just harp back to the best ever teams that never won anything. In reality its the title XI minus Drinkwater out for Izzet.

2 Worthington cups pal…. Throughly enjoyed them too as a whipper snapper

There are others. Love them to bits but are Morgan and Albrighton really the most naturally gifted footballers we've had play for the club?

Excellent question, which I find utterly impossible to begin to answer.

The same I can't even get past best goalkeeper I've seen so many player who individually could be in the team. Maybe a better question would be best 25 man squad.

Simply on ability. Harsh on Maddison, Tielemans, and probably Matt Elliott who was a much better footballer than a lot of people give him credit for.

Their contributions are bigger than anyone else in their positions for us. So yes.

Lump it to the forwards FC

Kasper

Ricardo

Elliott

Huth

Fuchs

Albrighton

Drinkwater

Kante

Mahrez

Lineker

Vardy

sorry/not sorry if it’s unbalanced. Nothing gets past Huth/Elliott/Kante then lump the ball forward with a bonus of a long throw from Fuchs.
