happy days. considering our most recent talents have been poached like Nyoni. Getting these players to actually agree to stay must show we have a clear plan for them, otherwise they would had been off.

Yes lad! Now he can go back to the u21s and be 5th choice AM for the next 3 years.

There might be some truth in this. Alves was in the squad and being given the red carpet treatment before he signed a new contract. As soon as he’d done so the club brought in BcDR, Buananotte and Ayew, all of whom play in his position. Two midfielders have been brought in now who play in Page’s position. We’ll see how the club treats him now.

Good result though. I’d heard there might have been Premier league interest in Page.

Great news. Feel like the club is starting to get on a much more positive trajectory both on and off the pitch.

I'm not sure any negative views are ever expressed on this forum

Top news, looks a prospect.

This is where we have to get the balance right. The last couple of weeks Winks and Faes have shown they should probably be in our best XI at the minute, but whether either are here beyond the summer is doubtful. Same can be said for Soumaré and Ayew who’s contracts are up this summer.

Therefore we have to strike a balance between playing our strongest team and the need to get promoted this season, whilst also building for the future. With 9 subs there’s no reason the likes of Page, Monga, Nelson and Aluko shouldn’t be in match day squads at a minimum most weeks. The best academy players have to see a pathway to the first team otherwise we’ll lose them.

Agree. Filbert next. then Dufkin. Here we go…

Some good news that we can all get behind. There’s no downside to this as he looks a great prospect.

That said I think we should be patient with all our youngsters. He will have spells where he’s outside the team or even the squad, but that won’t necessarily mean that he’s not going to make it or the manager is sh1t. It just means that he’s a teenager and being ready for championship football at such a tender age is a remarkable exception and not the rule

They all need game time now. It's the only way to test them fully. Same with Nelson, Alves, Thomas, Marcal. Start with 10 mins here and there

...will marti do it though?

Slightly disagree I think the whole focus has to be promotion - I don’t believe anytime spent in this division benefits anyone players, owners or fans. We need to get promoted and youngsters who are ready will play those who need experience should be sent on loan and Page needs game time like Alves, Nelson, Aluko and Evans who may or may not become first teamers here. Monga is different as he has a talent, physique and maturity beyond his years and that has shown in his brief cameos.

A pathway where loans provide experience that prepares a player to be ready for the first team is one that has more chance of success and means expectation or pressure are managed carefully - KDH is a case proving that over time.

The pressure to be a top end championship player at a club like ours is huge and whilst the academy is definitely showing it can deliver talent the transition to first team football at an elite level is huge. Page has talent but like the others mentioned here they need to play and learn - despite imminent contracts expiring next Summer the players we have are better than the youngsters at this stage and results come first.
