That’s a very good CV by our standards

I reckon he’ll know more about Leuven than Top, genuinely

Looks like during his time there any money they have spent has mostly been spent on quite young players

(although they may have been doing that even before he joined)

Mixed bag for me. Hardly pulled up trees at Lommel despite Man City backing, part of disaster Sunderland and zero experience of senior role at an English football club. Good luck fella

But I would say, it is a gamble, but maybe one we need to take. No high flying DoF/Tech Director or whatever you want to call it will come here, so you have to give him a chance. The donkey above is the real issue and may make his job harder and another fall guy. Rudkin has form on doing this with managers. Ask Kingy

Very slight overlap with Glover at Sunderland but was more involved in sports science than sports directorship at the time.

It’s an interesting career change. But being head of Sports Science and Performance under Pep and staying in position for 3 years is a big achievement.

If like Top said he will be in charge of setting our identity, that’s encouraging as we need a complete reset to become a team that works hard!

Yeah, keen to hear what his time at Lommel is viewed like. They ain't done a lot in recent years despite the backing of one of the wealthiest football group in the world. But he might have been doing the best he can, the role of global player development across the group is a fairly big job.

The worrying part is as someone said above, his role at Man City was Director of Player Development. Which is much more niche and less senior compared to the role of DoF/TD.

Lets hope he is well prepared for the duties he will face and the chaos here.

He’s literally one step below the city football groups Global Technical Director. Probably the most senior player development role in global football…

Player Development implies his job was heavily academy and youth focused.

How much say would he have had on first-team matters and upstairs management?

At Leicester City he will be tasked with sporting strategy, philosophy, recruitment, transfers, club structure and operations.

Not to mention he will have to deal with the idiotic Rudkin as his boss, not a recipe for success when your own boss is out of his depth.

Could this be why the appointment of a manager has been delayed - to get him in first and for him to play a part in the choice or at least to bring the two in together as a reset?
