Football Operations Revamp - Hiring Technical Director, CEO, and Commercial Director - Rudkin moving 'upstairs'

I mean we've outsourced commercial director and CEO to a recruitment agency.... so thankfully we're not relying on those two.

Not any good for alignment though when our exec search is literally just whatever drops on their desk. That said the new TD and any new CEO have got to be better than what we have.

Can’t give a source for confidentiality but know first hand that Man City rate him highly and confident he will sort things here.

What does the source say about what the power dynamic between him and Rudkin will be?

Because he can be the perfect guy, however still rendered ineffective if Rudkin puts his two cents in.

They didn’t say anything further on this I’m afraid.

Wonder if there's a chance he doesn't actually start here if we get relegated and are on the brink.

Good point.

I can’t imagine League One was in the discussion.

Serving some sort of a notice period i'd imagine.

I don't know much about this guy. But I'm excited about the contacts he would bring. the City Football Group scouting & analytic networks are truly second to none. Full of players & coaching staff from around the world that, although most will not quite good enough for Man City, would be a benefit to a club like us. Maybe in time he could develop something similar with us & OHL. Although of course it would be on a much smaller scale.

This is also an approach that as worked for us in the past. Nigel Pearson had a good relationship with Alex Ferguson which gave us access to these good young Man Utd players that - although not good enough for Man Utd - were good enough for us (Drinkwater, James, De Laet etc..).

Absolute peak Top-kin behaviour to finally make a good, meaningful decision that will change the whole momentum of the football club - only to make it too late and relegation renders it void.

Caveat this with the fact I’m really pleased about this appointment….

But for all those saying “woooo not someone from Southampton”

You can guarantee we’re bringing him in to do some Jason Wilcox style finding young talent and selling like Saints did when he came from Man City. Imagine a lot of that talent will come from City group too.

Still really like this appointment though as that’s what we should be doing to be self sufficient again. Even if it’s just for a couple of seasons.

Man City loaned us Doyle and now mukasa so hopefully start of some good regular loans from there whilst out of the prem.

This is good, isn't it :dunno:

Definitely a positive appointment.

Intrigued to see what JR's new title will be. Probably MD or maybe even some kind of "president" type role. Or "Head of Global Sport" for KP.

Rudkin is going to stay as DOF alongside a sports director and we're all going to be sat here purely speculating for the next XX years as to who does what. McCarron might well be a very good candidate (which I would lean towards) but this just creates an uncertainty with the fans designed to take the pressure/heat off Rudkin.
