Player Development implies his job was heavily academy and youth focused.

How much say would he have had on first-team matters and upstairs management?

At Leicester City he will be tasked with sporting strategy, philosophy, recruitment, transfers, club structure and operations.

Look if I’m being positive something must be right lol

His career path is encouraging as it encompasses performance and scouting. Which means he’s ideally placed to set identity, structure and recruitment.

I’m impressed to be honest. If he does his job he’ll only be here a couple of years and that’s exactly how it should be.

Hope he manages to clear out some of our life servant staff who have no desire!

Top and Rudkin are currently in charge of this...

Its a gamble, though, sure.

Everyone does that job for the first time at some point.

Surely we want someone on their way up? You have to give talent a chance.

@wardyfox86 @AjcW

I'm really positive about him, he's coming from the best run football club on the planet.

I'm just looking ahead and seeing if he will be provided the tools necessary to succeed over here.

My ideal scenario is he performs great and we sack Rudkin so we can promote this ex-Man City guy to DoF.

At least it might mean we finally sort out the fitness issues with our players

Seems a bit more equipped for the role than Monica from Thailand that ran a call centre or something like that.

Anyone Man City employ and like must be fairly decent. Sounds like he’s quite well respected in the game as well.

We'll employ Scott Carson as a hype man next

The worrying part is as someone said above, his role at Man City was Director of Player Development. Which is much more niche and less senior compared to the role of DoF/TD.

Lets hope he is well prepared for the duties he will face and the chaos here.

Can he muck out stables as well as Jon though?

We are in shit state, we aren't attractive to someone who already doing this job at a high level.

Best we can do is hit someone who could be up and coming.

People expectations on who we can currently attract as a DOF and manager are wild.

The most exciting thing to come out of this is his background with youth development. Being sporting director at a club like Lommel with a lot of young players, in a league that consists of teams like Club NXT, Anderlecht futures and Jong Genk, hopefully he can find us some young gems from leagues like the Jupiler, that will hopefully bring us some profit in years to come.

The downside is that he comes from a Manchester City background. If that’s his type of vision then I fully expect more possession based bollocks. But if this was always Top’s type of plan, why on earth didn’t we just give the managers job to Brian Barry-Murphy in the summer.

Good credentials in terms of CV - CFG don’t recruit any mugs. but comes from a sports science background looking at it - could have done with someone with a few more credentials in recruitment if I was being picky.

his profile looks pretty good tbf, but when he's still reporting in to the world's most overpaid pe teacher, I don't hold hope for things to improve. Likelihood is he does 18 months and then moves on to pastures new having been frustrated with our way of working, like so many before him

Also given how horrific our fitness has been for years since Pearson left and Rodgers gradually disassembled everything he left, the fact he was head of Sports Science at Man City at some point is also ****ing nice.

Was about to say the same, could clearly do with an overhaul in the S&C department at this point.

Could this be why the appointment of a manager has been delayed - to get him in first and for him to play a part in the choice or at least to bring the two in together as a reset?

Thats seems a reasonable decision by the club. Therefore , no

I may have my blue tinted specs on, but it appears that the morons in chaarge may actually be trying to sort things out. Whether they will be successful is a totally different question though.

Shame it's taken 4 years for the penny to drop with them and we're already absolutely ****ed, eh
