Has our greatest success been tainted?

I'm undecided on the matter but have our greatest achievements (League and FA cup win for anyone wondering) been tainted by our catastrophic demise since? 

 

The club has been a shambles for a long time now in almost every aspect. Players responsible for these dizzy heights have almost left out of the back door with little acknowledgement and we're left with a bunch of useless dross. There's not a glimmer of hope that things are going to get better and Top still seems oblivious to the fact that we're a club in crisis 

 

Now, the memories of the greatest ever sporting achievement will live with me forever and I wouldn't change a thing about the league win or the fa cup. But it really feels like we're paying for it now and the rapid decline has left most of us shell shocked

The opposite. It’s even more amazing how this basket case of a club managed to achieve that.

 

Also highlights Vichai and his running of the club even further.

Yes I think so. But not because we had been relegated.

 

Before those achievements, we were a proper club and embodied the spirit you’d expect from Leicester sides over the years. Even when we were limited quality wise, the effort would be there and fans would be content and united behind the club.

 

Since these achievements, the whole club just doesn’t seem bothered anymore. They’ve given up. Fans have given up. We have a high proportion of our fan base who prioritise the owner of the club over the clubs very existence. No player, manager or owner is bigger than the club. But the fans have allowed this to be the case. There are many who would happily see this club go out of business tomorrow than turn on Aiyawatt.

 

We are no longer a proper, serious football club. And that is a big cost for me of the achievements. So yes, it’s tainted.

No. 

Tbh if PSR hadn't been implemented we'd probably still be there too as we'd have been able to spend. 

But it was. And we managed it appallingly.

In my book of course it does unless the club gets out of this mess and back on track moving forwards. It has felt like we’ve been going backwards for a while now.

after our greatest achievements no one expected us to repeat it. However no one expected us to fall apart this badly either.

we have to avoid relegation at all costs now. Finish as high as possible and reset properly in the summer with new staff, coaches and players. Fearless Foxes will be back one day

If we're honest, it was tainted the second Aiyawatt and a portrait of the King of Thailand did a lap of honour with the trophy, instead of the players actually responsible for winning it.

NO.

 

Nothing these w@nkers can do can detract from those players who cared, who fought for the shirt who played with pride and passion and ultimately  won the greatest prize in domestic football against all the odds.

I don’t really get the argument honestly, are you saying you’d rather trade them to be a middle of the pack Brentford? 
 

We got an absolute generational run that any of the proper football clubs would dream of and none will probably ever replicate.

Not for me. 

 

As quick as our demise has been, we are a totally different club to 10 years ago. Pathetically so. 

 

But that's not to negate anything from what those players did. Even 4 years ago too. The club has changed so much.

The question wasn’t if you’d change it, just if it is tainted.

 

I’d say given what we have become, it is a bit tainted in that it came with a cost of us losing our identity and becoming soulless. But some day in the future, we will resemble a football club again and those achievements will be in history forever so you can’t wish they didn’t happen.

 

I just wish we could have achieved what we did without becoming what we have.

I'm not 100% sure I think it's been tainted, just putting the question out there. I still wouldn't change a thing about either season. My daughter was born the year of the league win and my son the year of the fa cup win so it really was a magical time for me.

 

I just find it unbelievably shocking that we've managed to **** that up so spectacularly in a relatively short space of time and wonder if it makes us the flash in the pan people made us out to be

You could maybe argue the fa cup because in retrospect that was probably the end of the era. 
 

but even if we were a league two team now I don’t think the league win could ever be tainted. Those 3 seasons we had back to back to back nothing really comes close to that

 

yeah we’re all pretty down bad with the current situation, but if you were playing devils advocate our fall off hasn’t been that disastrous if you look at it outside of blue tinted specs. We’ve just kind of returned to what we’ve been largely for our history which is a bit of a yo-yo club

No, absolutely not 

 

We didn't buy our way to success and so our achievement remains outstanding

 

That we have since bought our way to such levels of failure on and off the pitch, whilst staggering in its incompetence, doesn't diminish what went before

Going against the grain here, but I think yes it has. In the future (even now) when people talk about the title win, it'll be followed up with "but look at what happened after that" or "can't believe it went so wrong after that". So on the basis that our success will always be mirrored by our failure in the following years, I'd say it has been slightly tarnished. Not massively, but to a degree.
