Leicester City Average Attendance

I’m not sure if this has been highlighted really and maybe leans into why the stadium development don’t progress at pace.

 

Our attendances are dwindling.

 

Not exactly a shock I know, considering current circumstances.

 

However I saw this week that we have been leapfrogged by Coventry for average attendances.

 

Coventry are 29,827 and we’ve fallen to 29,759.

 

Not massively different to each other really, however the real story is that we were nearly at full capacity 2 seasons ago, despite being in the Championship. 
 

This is either a product of the ridiculous game times we’ve seen this season, or the ridiculous quality we’ve seen on the pitch.

Realistically it is actually worse than the official attendance figures suggest.

 

Our official attendance figures released are way over the actual number of people in the stadium, as they include all ST's sold. There have been a good few thousand empty seats at almost every home game.

 

I would estimate that our real average attendance is around 23k to 24k.

We are nowhere near 29k, it's been mentioned elsewhere in various threads. The padded seats in the West Stand are half empty, family stand was barely ¾ full against Sheff Utd at the start of the game (and after half an hour most of the lettering in the seats was visible). There's gaps everywhere and on the times when the away fans haven't taken the full allocation, we're still calling the attendance 29k. Rubbish.

No. I don’t know how old you are but 23k was the regular in the mid 00s and it’s nowhere near as many empty seats now as then.

Coventry are having pretty much one of the best seasons in their history to be fair whereas until we pushed up the table last week, and were sitting in 16th, it was highlighted that if the season ended there, it’d be in our top 10 worst league finishes in our history. Coupled with everything else, how the club is treating fan, it’s hardly surprising. We have plenty of fans who are passionate about this club who are staying away out of principle and to make a point.

I'm old enough to remember approx 6.5k vs Shrewsbury at Filbert Street in the 80s.

Yes, very different to when I could rock up with my £3 on match day and just walk in at 14.

Too expensive these days for something that is very rarely entertaining.  There’s only so many bad performances people will continue to rock up to before they realise that money can be spent better elsewhere.

And they've been told this by supporters over and over but as usual, they don't want to know. 

 

The most recent example I can give is a few months ago UFS suggested removal of membership fees for U18s so there's no barriers to bringing a kid for the first time without having to first invest in a membership without knowing if the kid would like it or get a decent return on buying a membership. Obviously it fell on deaf ears.

Timings as well as the poor product is having an impact. It’s true hospitality sales are way down but it shows when 40 plus places that are paid for in one Lounge are empty. Continual changes in timings messes with people’s schedules. The desire for live football is dwindling. We go to a lot of football not just Leicester and the discounted offers I get this year is shocking. Football is hurting for live customers especially at the higher prices hence empty spaces.

This has been coming towards the club for years. One day they’ll realise the fans will only take so much and that they have nothing without the fans

With a poor management who don’t want to have much to do with fans a very poor product to watch it’s always going to drive away supporters

100%, exactly what I experienced a few years back, loved the club for so long but was treated like utter crap so I no longer attend.

 

I’m glad they’re hitting hard times, serves them right.

Don't think its that low. Overall probably around 25.5k id estimate. Ipswich game we probably had around 26-27k

Attendances have looked around 26k this season. Down compared to the last time we were in the championship when its was 29k and 30k still attending. Obviously being league leaders helped back then.

If Top and none of his row turn up how can the club expect the fans to turn up? The owner can’t be arsed so why should the fans. Lead by example Top.
