With the squad we have (and with the lack of available resources for new players), surely a season or two, to hopefully to rebuild stronger is the best way forward. If we were by some miracle to get into the playoffs and then get promoted, we would inevitably come straight back down again.  Obviously we all want to see a winning team every week and are upset when we lose, however staying in the championship until we have a squad capable of competing in the premier league might be the best in the long run. Am I alone in thinking this ?

Yes absolutely, I’d like a free season ticket and to be earning Jordan Ayew’s weekly wage as well please.

Depends if you want us to have any money or not I guess.

This rabble took a team that was comfortably able to pick up 60+ points in the prem to a club that will struggle to pick 60 up in the champ.

I dont see a scenario where staying in this league suddenly makes them competent and not take us down another level. Unless of course they get lucky with their hires.

Of course we do...

The financial benefits of the Premier League would be an incredible boost and with players out of contract will give us more to rebuild the squad with.

Financially I believe we have been up sh*t creek without an oar for a couple of years and another year of Premier League income might just give us one oar to settle ourselves

It's not going to happen but if by a miracle it does then we have to expect relegation again next season (and yes fans will be frustrated) focusing on balancing the books and rebuilding a sustainable squad instead of overspending (on new transfers or renewing contracts on excessive wages) to try to compete

But with a points deduction and a team that fall apart and disappear the moment anything happens I really wouldn't worry about promotion too much

No

For the long term health and stability of this club we need to stay in this league and then go for promotion next season hopefully getting promoted before all parachute payments run out before 27/28.

There is a number of deadwood leaving in 26 and 27 essential for us to be able to progress.

From a footballing standpoint absolutely not we are not ready at all, and although I’d enjoy a playoff final at Wembley I can’t see a situation where we could finish 17th or above in the premier league.

But the longer our tenure in the championship the more the finances of our club change, the harder it is to re-establish ourselves in the top flight.

So we are damned if we do and damned if we don’t.

I think the best we can hope for is a continued reset of the squad over the next 12-24 months, ship out the deadwood, try to hold on to our more valuable players.

We need to lose the poisonous identity and get the fans back on the side of the club before anything good can come of it. And they have to earn that it won’t come easy.

Too much common sense here.

MODS!

It’s not exactly a joy in the championship, conceding 3s and 4s in a half.

Second seasons don’t get any easier with a reduction in parachute payments.

Get out while you can before we follow the path of the other fallen strugglers

The best chance of getting rid of the owner and the DoF is to linger in this league, so that's what's best long term for us.

That’s all debatable, linger in the league points deductions potential administration. Not every person that buys a club comes in and is the saviour look at the likes of Reading, Wednesday, Cardiff etc

Yes, obviously we should want promotion.

An optimistic football fan looks at promotion as giving your club the chance to mix it with the best and maybe pull off a shock or two. Promotion and survival sets a well run club up for 10 years.

The problem is that promotion won't bring about change. It won't bring about a squad refresh. It won't bring about a reform of the way the club runs.

It'll just lead to contract extensions and signings of has-been footballers.

We do need to go up and we should aim for it. But a total refresh is needed drastically and I don't think that will happen if we go up. We need a Nigel Pearson in League 1 season before we can begin to look up IMO.

There was absolutely scenarios where a manager could have come in and made the top 6 even with a points deduction. I'm not going to let the fact Marti has come in and addressed none of the off field problems gaslight me into believing this team should be performing like this.

You don't get these scenarios where you're allowed to build in the Championship. The better players will always go.

What we do have is big assets still and what should be a big wage budget once we finally shift some of this shit in the summer.

The issue will be selling the new project to new players. Word gets around quick and Leicester are seen as a sinking ship at the minute. We need a change of manager, new director and a whole change of narrative. There's hope it can be sorted but I don't trust these people.
