To be fair if he is cheap/ loan signing if we are just brining him in for character/ to inject some leadership into the squad probably a positive at the moment

That sounds like a job for a decent manager, maybe we should be aiming for players that have played more than 19 mins in 2 seasons as we are crying out for that more than cheerleaders.
It’s a punt, let’s hope he plays and stays fit

Hasn't played a competitive game in 18 months nasty career ending ACL injury.  32 years old, moment he plays he will last about ten minutes before pulling up with a hamstring injury, calf strain or groin injury.  What a serious waste of money.  Rudkin, Glover and Top haven't a bloody clue.

We seriously do not need another defender, we need a goal scoring striker it's abundantly clear all we ever sign are defenders and midfield players it's a joke.

We are sleepwalking to  division one, clowns running the show can't see it.

Have you got any more details from the medical you personally did for him?

Different type of player, could absolutely be a crock but he is big, looks to have been quick and suits a back 4, Coady was a back 3 merchant who was good on the ball and vocal. Think even if Lascelles is off the pace at worst he will be able to win headers and knock about the lumps in this league that have been terrorising us I.e Dykes, Kieffer Moore etc

That isn’t something that we should be excited about.

32 year olds without injury issues, are typically on the decline from a physical perspective, that’s not even taking into account his recent injuries.

When a player has relied on their pace/athleticism, it makes me very nervous how they adapt in their latter years.

‘injured’ can be what people say when they want to get a move before the deadline

Think you will find he has a hernia. Do you really believe anyone is interested in him on the wages we pay.

Don’t kid yourself. He is Coady, Ayew, Bobby Reid all over again. Player with no hunger, no resale value and big wage we’re going to be stuck with. We don’t learn.

Could very well be but I don’t judge a player until they have played for us, had plenty of older signings work out very well for us I.e Huth, Morgan, Evans, Cambiasso, as well as some duds. I als don’t like lumping them in together, for me Reid shouldn’t be in the same sentence as the other two, he does try he just isn’t up to it, other two are absolute pony and put in nothing

This is a very fair point, I’m hoping he is still a big hard bastard and has brain on him, as his past issues were more down to his technicality in the ball. I’m hoping for a less brain dead but slower Okoli

He'll get injured chasing back when they play the high line and dives instead of attempting to control the ball and they get countered

I feel he will be a solid enough option for us & will be a step up on the current centre backs we have. All of course if he can stay fit .

He was immense for Newcastle before his ACL.

I agree, looking for the positives but also if he can stay fit he is a good player and a leader on the pitch which we have been sorely missing

Seeing that he's barely played since he did it, at the moment that statement is broadly accurate.

Are you sure! We haven't kept a clean sheet since Jesus was a child, and we currently have one fit, available senior center back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn’t the same criticism aimed at Robert Huth?

Has this been confirmed, or why are so many getting their knickers in a twist when he‘s got to clear the medical exam first?

But knowing this club, it wouldn‘t surprise me if we sign him regardless and he‘ll then turn out to be a healthy scratch for the rest of the season.👀

We signed Cannon with an injury

One thing in our favour, the way Newcastle play with power and pace, if he’s been training he’s been high tempo training, against quality pacey forwards.

Some newcastle fans on twitter say he has been training on his own.

Should be a breeze against our strikers in training.
