this,.....Time line:

Its yesterday, and hour into the Charlton game

Lox on B.t.g. "We are ****ed, there's no more cards to play we are going down."
Meanwhile......
Top  hasn't taken up his seat in the stand for the second half... He is frantically ringing round begging anyone who will listen for there players, on the other line Rudkin is in tops ear... "How's it going Toppy, had any luck with the freebies, listen Toppy offer them 100 grand a week, it might work"....
Suddenly Tops desk tilts at a crazy angle he watches as a picture of his dad slides off his desk and smashes on his office floor, HMS King power sinks slowly into the abyss.....

Well, on paper - it isn’t (see above). You’re also forgetting James is a welcome addition and Skipp has finally started to look a better player.

I’m not saying we would piss it again by any means - but he should be able to give us a lift and I don’t think it would take long - as most of the players are still here and are used to his style.

18 months isn’t that long ago.

You’re so wide of the mark here. Players from the top of my had we had then who are no longer here (not saying they are all better than what we have, for clarity).

Hermansen

Ward

Justin

Doyle

Coady

Faes

Ndidi

KDH

Casadei

Praet

McAteer

Albrighton

Yunus

Cannon
Vardy

Now tell me again he’d have basically the same squad.

There’s more chance of it being someone worse.

Oh yeah I know.

As others have said, this stinks of a publicity stunt to try and convince the press and fans that we still have lofty ambitions, when the reality is we don't have a clue what we are doing.

Lots of discussion about something that will not happen.

Probably just another deflection tactic to take the heat off again

Literally one of the most insane things I’ve ever read. If they’ve genuinely approached him it’s either a publicity stunt to soften the blow of Martin or they've finally completely cracked.

I think sinking into league1 could mark the end of the club as we know it. Particularly if Top and Rudkin stay on in there current positions.

Enzo was part of the problem.

He isn’t why we got promoted, and he nearly was the reason we didn’t.

our squad was head and shoulders above everyone else that season.

the slow and flacid style he brought in, and players to suit it, is part of the reason we are such a mess.

Ha! Brilliant.

Actually, our squad started to fall off a cliff 2nd half that season and exhibit all the issues you see today. Enzo + a few key players (a possessed KHD for one) got us over the line - i think another manager would have failed that. I think Enzo knew the future was tough though, and we certainly wouldn't have signed Ayew + Okoli.

They players had to hold a meeting behind Enzo’s back to get us over the line.

We had the strongest and most expensive squad to ever play in this league and for large parts the football was rancid.

Vestergaard

Riccy

Winks

Mavididi

Fatawu

All major players in his system, especially Vestergaard.

Then add in Nelson (Justin/Doyle role) Skipp (Dewsbury - not as good, granted) and James (Ndidi) and you’ve got the footprint of a team he could put together. Okoli would likely play the Faes role unless we do get in another CB.

You could see why it would work for a short period.

I'd actually lose a bit of respect for Enzo if he came back.  Hardly screams ambition does it?  He is setting his stall out as a top, top manager who wants to be leading teams at the very top of Europe's elite divisions.  Coming back here would be the polar opposite to his career trajectory and even by simply signing a contract here would, at the very least, raise eyebrows with regards the reputation he is building.

I genuinely believe this is a leak to a journo from a desperate board, trying to make it look like they're aiming high when of course, as ever, they'll be going for the cheapest option.

The classic "we tried, but he turned us down" BS.

It’s desperation dressed as ambition.

Its amazing how sh1t is spun sometimes. The players are grown ups - and a few senior players held a meeting. That was them taking responsibility for their performances. If Enzo was ok with that - surely thats good leadership?

Seriously why on earth would he even consider returning while he’s probably sitting on the millions payoff from Chelsea.

He can’t afford to be seen failing again and will select a banker project has his next job and that certainly not at the King Power
