There needs to be a rule on FT that anybody suggesting a back 3 is automatically banned for a month.

How come? Doesn't seem that ridiculous when we can't defend..

No offence my man, slightly tongue in cheek comment. I've been a lurker here for years before joining and the back 3 had been a regular refrain since MON, no matter the personnel we have available. I just find it a bit of a boring Leicester fans fetish!

In seriousness I don't think we have the players for it and we'd end up with an even more limited attack.

What makes you say he's done?  He's not injured.

Hes barely played in a year, plays, gets injured, and then doesn’t play again….

Back 3 would be horrific. The CBs aren't used to it and we've got nothing that resembles a wing back. So you either play wingers there and get absolutely ball bagged down the channels or you play full backs, which just turns into a back 5 and just get pinned in for 90 mins while we watch our players lose their men and make it look like the oppo have got all the time in the world.

I get that people want change, but that particular option looks so much worse to me.

Not disagreeing. I just think we've basically played the same formation all year which clearly isn't working so why not try something new.

I like the theory of it but I do concede that in practice it'd just be end up being 4 at the back worn Okoli at right back.

He needs to play with Vestergaard for me.

If we can’t get him fit then it’s just a total waste of money. Money we don’t have.

Is Vestergaard back in training and available?

Back in training. Available? Who knows. If he is he 100% should be starting.

I have never been a great fan but for  all his limitations of which there are quite a few, it’s a struggle to suggest any other defender that’s been better this season, in fact I would suggest he has been way better than any of the others as each and every one has been pretty hopeless.

He played his part in many lost points from winning positions and is slow, slow, slow. His habit of slowing the play down and all attacks coming from him stifled so much play. He's not some sort of magic answer because he isn't playing.

Our drop off it traced back to when JJ first got injured - not since JV stopped playing.

Vestergaard is not a magic answer, but the stats do tell a story. Vestergaard’s last appearance was the home loss against Oxford. At that point we’d gained 38 points from 29 games, and Vestergaard had played in 24 of those games. We’d conceded 43 goals over the period at an average rate of 1.5 goals per game. This record was bad enough to get Marti the sack, but we were still 14th at the time (this was prior to the points deduction).

Since that game we’ve gained six points from nine games, all of which came during Rowett’s six games. We’ve conceded 17 goals during that time at a rate of 1.9 goals per game. So there has been a major drop off in points-per-game & defensive stats while Vestergaard has been out. Obviously there are other factors at play here (most notably the fact that Jordan James was also absent for much of that period), but the figures do suggest that the Okoli-Nelson partnership has been very damaging to our cause. With Lascelles available and Vestergaard not far away, dare we hope that things may improve in this area?

My God, what have we turned into when Vesty is the answer.

Dark, dark days.

We're the footballing equivalent of the moment in Downfall when Hitler convinces himself that General Steiner will launch a counterattack and save Berlin, only to be told by General Jodl, "Mein Fuhrer.....Steinel was unable to mass sufficient forces for an attack"—and the penny finally drops.

He's not the solution. He's just another wrong answer that isn't currently playing.

Not arguing the points made however like it or not he is a better option than those that have played in his absence.Sad but true.

This article published today in the Mercury hints that Vestergaard isn't quite ready but Souttar may be. It also says that with Vestergaard in the team this season we have averaged 1.33 points per game and only 0.86 points per game without him.

Vestergaard's points total benefits from him getting injured around the time Cifuentes was sacked.

Our form has collapsed since then, only 6 points in 9 games!

Isn't it possible that our collapse in form has something to do with Vestergaard being out and having to rely on Okoli and Nelson?
