The KPFC fans can’t understand the situation at all.

That’s not a wilful decision they are making.

The socio-economic reality for the majority of them (and wider football fans) is low paid “blue collar” (in old terminology) people that are familiar and comfortable with being told what to do, and who to vote for (by parental / peer expectation), and generally fit into this role by not standing out with radical or different ideas. Acceptance is king.

“Fitting in” is extremely important… Wearing the uniform / clothes of their peers, being angry at the same set of people, having the same opinions.

Loyalty is seen as an alpha trait… It’s a key driver behind the success of football over the last century. The identity of being an XYFC fan is really appealing to these people; “We hate ABFC”, we wear X brand, and these items are acceptable from the club shop. Within this broader cohort there are sub species; Kopites, lads n dads, who identify firstly as XYFC fans and then their often non defined subset “away day lads” / “flask and sandwich loyalists” (part of being in those sub categories is just fitting in to their cohort that is very subtle and difficult to define, unlike the branding easily defined by the Stone Island crew). I’ve digressed.

Ultimately they see loyalty to their club as character defining, by extension they’ve applied that to the ownership structure that bought them success. The stronger they display those attributes the better fan they are.

The wider life strategy of “Know your place” becomes “proper fans through thick and thin” etc.

Nothing will change these people’s opinions because having the rigid loyalty is a badge of honour (however stupid to the rest of us).

By definition, fans on a forum, discussing positive and negative aspects of their club in detail aren’t like these people… So what’s seen as “typical Foxestalk” by them is the complement of “free thinking”.

Or I’m just part of a cohort, fitting in without my knowledge or approval, just like they do!

What an interesting post.

I'd add that there's a multiplier with Leicester. We are a very introverted City and County. This surely exaggerates / reinforces the conformist character traits you mention

Leicester people seem to thrive off stoicism. That soothing self insurance of predicting bad weather around the corner. I think for many, they consider to protest against KP is an admission of weakness.

Good point. I agree, there’s certainly an element of this

Leicester City title-winners offer to help relegation fight but ace says nobody's made contact
Story by Leigh Curtis

Marc Albrighton says Leicester City's title-winning heroes would help the club in their fight against relegation - but says nobody has been in contact.

The Foxes are striving to climb out of the Championship relegation zone under new boss Gary Rowett and face a nerve-wracking end to the season as they aim to beat the drop.

After posting £71m in losses for the last financial year, rumours are already emerging that some talent could be moved on in the summer as a result.

It's been a hard season on and off the pitch for the Foxes and Albrighton says the Premier League winning team of 2016 is willing to help in any way they can.

But in an interview with the Daily Mail, he says nobody has yet picked up the phone.

"We all say that if we could have a job at any of our former clubs, we’d choose Leicester," Albrighton said.

"We didn’t all grow up supporting Leicester but we are massive fans now and we just want to help as much as possible. For whatever reason, it hasn’t materialised.

"I’m not saying we’d go in and change the world, change everything that’s wrong with the club.

"But people talk about Manchester United and former players at the club who know their DNA, and I feel like there’s something similar at Leicester. There was a culture there that I’d never seen anywhere else."

Albrighton was in the stands to watch Leicester's defeat to Southampton when the Foxes incredibly surrendered a 3-0 lead to lose 4-3.

And he added: "I felt there was massive fear both on the pitch and in the crowd.

"When they were 3-0 up, I wanted them to enjoy themselves. I know it’s difficult and these are nervous times but I’ve noticed it in a quite a few games. The word 'fearless' is part of the club’s identity and it’s important not to forget that."

I don’t agree with this aspect of your view. I don’t see any evidence that it’s those on a lower wage that clap bad performances. I’d argue it’s the other way round, those of us who feel the cost of the tickets more are much more likely to be critical of the team and the owners.

We should really be getting Fuchs in at the end of the season to start the revival along with Top and Rudkin going.

That’s fair enough, we’re here to share our views, and there are always exceptions to generalisations. Good to hear an alternative view

What a top bloke Sharkey is, such a team player

While I agree that all of the title winners are legends, what sort of role is Albrighton hinting at there?? Coaching?? Ambassadorial?? Just being around??

How would he "help" in a practical sense??

He wouldn't. He feels bad that we are where we are and would like to help, but there's nothing he could practically do.

He could show Mav how to take someone on and cross the ball without hitting the first player, saying that with Patson and Ayew on the other end it's probably not very practical.

If we are relegated, you would have an increased chance of this!

I don’t expect there to be anything, they have already said he will start at the end of March so that will be their confirmation

Yeah, also meant from him to be fair. He's very active on LinkedIn and still very much working for and reposting news about City Group and items about Lommel.

Wouldn't surprise me if the club want him to start after our league position is confirmed for next season. Stops him being tainted with a relegation and gives them a monday morning "great news everyone" after relegation is confirmed.

I’m only going off his daughter’s Instagram post but it appears Steve Walsh of 2016 was working at Huddersfield Town. You’ve got to be kidding me if he’s got a role there and we’ve ignored him

Looks like there was even more additions than mentioned initially.

- Anthony got a sneaky promotion to add Marketing to his remit.

- As part of that, someone who has been with us 17 years and never had another job is now "associate director of Content, Marketing and Digital"

- We've also hired an Interim finance director who spent his career with Everton before leaving last year.

We would never appoint anybody doing a sterling job at say Lincoln, always the downwardly mobile
