He did a decent job at Hull and Strasbourg after all. Plus he just trousered and £24m if you believe what you read.

Think that will be our first port of call. Whether he takes it is another story, but my gut feel is that he would. Does give youth a chance but i for one wont have his style of play. Please god no.

Vindaloo FOX Posted 22 April Posted 22 April (edited) Call me crazy & I would never touch him in the Prem or even Championship, but I feel Gerrard would have a positive fast impact on a young squad Let's be honest we are not going to be doing much buying in the summer, we are going to be needing to develop our young players and try get them inspired to play for the club in League 1. Gerrard ticks alot of boxes when it comes to what we need to do in League 1. But I still rather have a old experienced head, NP, Mowbray or Chris Hughton type. Also rather have Gerrard than Russell Martin. Edited 23 April by Vindaloo FOX
Tom12345 Posted 23 April Posted 23 April What is clear is that when we went for winners, like Enzo, even if he was relatively new to management, we do well. I rather a manager who is untested, but a player winner. This group needs a reset in mentality more than anything else. We need to start with a winning mentality from a winner. Look what Lampard has done at Coventry. He is naturally a winner and this has shone through in Conventry’s style.

SafewayFox Posted 23 April Posted 23 April Does it even matter anymore? We will likely sack him by March without another manager lined up. Ohh, and they’ll play 4231 when the squad’s limitations suggest that they shouldn’t.

teblin Posted 23 April Posted 23 April I want to see energetic, football. I'm fed up with the slow game. I know thats not going to happen. Based on Man City Light (they play differently now too) But someone who mixes it up. 5 minutes ago, ClaphamFox said: He hasn’t even had a full season in League Two. Some people just seems to be the right fit for management, I wonder if Fuchs is that type. He has to keep Newport up, then I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the running.
BKLFox Posted 23 April Posted 23 April With an obvious reset going to happen & the lions share of players will have to come from the academy could we do a lot worse and reset the managerial merry-go-round of tried and failed managers by appointing someone from a true tier 1 academy who wants to start out on their own managerial journey? I’m talking about someone from Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool academy’s & with McCarron we might have a way in to get 1. We need someone who can connect with the kids but also have a level of tactical awareness about them to show any senior players old or new they know what they are doing. This has been brought on from reading about McFarlane the Chelsea academy coach who will probably see out the remaining 1st team games there after LR sacking. It just seems right that everything will need to change & with the sports director (if that’s his title) &the majority of our players all being academy based why not add-in the managerial position and make it feel like a proper restart that us fans can really get behind (playing side) following a team with real growth, instead of appointing someone like Tony Mowbury (just using a known name) and it all feeling the same which makes it feel like a tired old club instead of new & exciting. Failing that I do like the idea of Fuchs also but that’s because he’s still an unknown so new & exciting, plus he has a huge personality which we know will give a buzz around the place & he’d also connect with those younger lads. Talking myself into Fuchs along with someone he trusts + King now (only way I see King staying) but we shouldn’t discount the starting from scratch route with a highly thought of academy coach.
lcfcbluearmy Posted 23 April Posted 23 April Let's look at the positives at least it wont be Russell Martin 😂

indierich06 Posted 23 April Posted 23 April I fear that it will be another weird, haphazard/ill-thought-out appointment. The safe option, if he's ready for a return to football, would be Pearson - knows the DNA of the club, as he essentially built the modern identity of LCFC. Not a Guardiola possession merchant though, so I doubt Top will be interested. Wildcards? Dave Challinor, Danny Cowley? Christian Fuchs? Again, we need someone who can connect with the fans and bring back a bit of goodwill - though it may be too soon for him. Though tbh, doubt they are paying for a manager from anywhere.
Rubbersoul Posted 23 April Posted 23 April If we’re going to have use youngsters for one it’ll have to be someone willing to do that. On Fuchs, if he keeps Newport up i still wouldn’t want him. Let him have a full season managing them then see. Im absolutely dreading this appointment.

LeePhilpottsBaldSpot Posted 23 April Posted 23 April Wouldn't be shocked if we tried to get Will Still. These are the odds for the next Barnsley manager - shows the market we'll likely be operating in. Darren Moore 6/4 Darren Ferguson 8/1 Lee Grant 8/1 Matt Taylor 12/1 Dean Holden 12/1 Karl Robinson 16/1 Mark Kennedy 20/1 Noel Hunt 20/1 Paddy McCarthy 20/1 David Artell 25/1

We'll be the biggest club in League One and will aiming for an instant promotion back to the Championship. There are quite a few managers who would be interested in that gig but wouldn't particularly fancy Barnsley.

Let's just hope the previous managers don't leave Glassdoor reviews to put future applicants off I'm not sure how attractive it is. Massive rebuild, likely with teenagers, unmotivated journeymen and a points penalty... Part of me worries that anybody naive enough to take the job won't have the right qualities we need to go forward. But maybe I'm being overly pessimisitc. Edited 23 April by LeePhilpottsBaldSpot
LCFC1996 Posted 23 April Posted 23 April If Fuchs keeps Newport up I'd almost be surprised if its not him, got a good relationship with the club, would be cheap, likeable, that'll fit with what they want.
