We will sign about 4 journeyman players before getting a manager in at the end of June........It's Rudkins way!

Just had a weird message from someone I know in the footy world, who is in regular contact with a well known footy journalist.

Says journo is suggesting we've already signed a manager . When I asked who:

"He doesn’t know. Said it’s someone out of work & been offered a fortune to come?"

The latter bit certainly sounds like us.

I suggested Southgate as a pretty much worst case option and journo has come back with 'wow what a good thought'. It is not, in fact, a good thought at all, so I think that shows he is a  journalist.

I realise the above sounds like pretty bizarre bait but it's true, honest.

Pep??

You never know with these types of leaks and stories. I was semi reliably told last week we are going in heavy for Russell Martin from someone in the game....😭

Oh, I know. I'm not treating as anything other than gossip.

Not even got a name attached. Was just a bit out of the blue and the 'already signed' bit was what weirded me out.

Passing football in League 1 will be the recipe for disaster. We need to get out, so we do it the Wrexham way and Parkyball.

With Rylan, we'll get the same wet blankets of players, same passing turd tactics and no proper leadership. Rince and repeat.

We need something completely different. A manager to take charge with a captain that actually leads by example and make people accountable.

If Rylan is put in charge, then it shows McCarron doesn't have much power.

I do think Rylan's ego won't let him drop down that far.

I’ve seen a lot of similar posts about mccarron…. Who do you think we’ve brought in exactly?

1) he’s brought in because he has been at man city, which means he has had the  philosophy driven into his head. He is literally here to make another pep light team

 2) he’s been brought in because he’s willing to do as he’s told

This isn’t a random appointment full of experience who will put a stamp on things. It is someone inexperienced, learning the job from those already at the club and will be utilized to pass on more knowledge of how to make us play possession football like man city.

the only thing he guarantees, is a continuation of the possession route and you can bet your house we will try everything to get a manager who plays that way. The only way we get something different is if we get rejected by everyone we can think of and have to take on a random target as nobody our agent list work with plays that way

It would be if it were an appointment without thought, but they have had a very long time since relegation, since which a whole raft of teams have brought in managers and new signings, and we are still getting tweets about a charity match(after our relegation and prior to what is in all likelihood going to be the lowest finish in our clubs history) and we still don’t even know if our part time manager is staying or going. We are about to hit June, we need to be preparing at this point for pre season and putting a squad and playing style together. We are falling into the exact same trap of the past 3 years, and when we have taken time in that period to hire, they have been arguably the worst managerial hires across the entirety of the UK, let alone in our league. At this point with our process I do agree that we should just hire, at least even if it isn’t the right person which it wouldn’t be anyway, they have time to put together their own squad during this reset and sign some of the more sought after freebies

Changed my mind lads take your time 😭

Nixon saying we are still trying for Martin.

I’m 100% convinced we’ve been interested in him since before Enzo. Didn’t we pretty much offer him the job and then go cold as there was fan backlash?

Wouldn’t surprise me, whether he’d step into league one don’t know.

wouldnt be my choice at all.

Pretty much all managers we hire even if I do have reservations about them I will get them the benefit of the doubt

Brussell would not get that

We haven't even employed him and I already want him gone

Amen to that

If this happens, any benefit of doubt I've been extending to the club pending McCarron's first managerial appointment will be extinguished in a second. I can barely think of a more stupid appointment than this.

The Brussell was sacked 10 games in to his Prem season with Southampton, then at Rangers the fans resorted to blocking the team bus in the car park in protest to his appalling start. Not a glowing track record.

We also scored 12 times against him in 3 fixtures when he was at Southampton.

If it's Russell then I'm gone forever. I don't quite know how that looks given I'm still following them through all this shit but I'll figure out a way. For my own sake it's probably healthier if it is him.

They have such an open goal with Challinor given his track record, and they're going to go for the man not liked by a single club he has managed so far...

What the **** is that blokes obsession with that style of football … the day he sells the club will feel like the title win all over again.

Yes it's really weird. Has he watched any of our title winning games, with low possession and fast transition and counter attack?

He also referenced long throws in his interviews so welcome Dave Challinor! 😂
