I just knew it’d be a matter of time before Martin was mentioned FFS.

Of course he was going to be mentioned.

I have been bleating on about this for the last 3 months, he is the number 1 choice.

Worked with new DOF and Glover at Saints and he fits with Tops preffererd style.

Personally i wouldnt touch him with a bargepole but he is the number 1 target i have been told.

lets hope he goes watford

McCarron never worked at Southampton! Before Man City & the City Football Group, JMc's only football experience was in Sports Science at Sunderland.

Correct regarding Southampton but Sunderland wasn’t his only other role in Football, he was a sports scientist at Seattle Sounders but also worked at the Premier League as their elite performance manager essentially working with all 20 EPL Clubs during that period, focusing on each Clubs homegrown development plans and also helping aid Academy projects.

I believe he was hired by Richard Scudamore to do the role as well which is quite impressive to say the least

At the end of the season, there was a fair bit of speculation that one of the possible candidates for Manager, was Kolo Toure. It then all went a bit quiet on him, but with Pep's departure and Maresca & Co moving in at the Etihad, I wonder if KT is a bit adrift now and might be on McCarron's radar.

Obviously, the City Football group connection and 4 years at the KP, with Bilbo R, are two pluses, but I didn't realise his son was a Trainee with us. Admittedly his previous stint in League 1 with Wigan went a bit pear shaped, but he might / could have learned a bit since then. He certainly has the background in the game, that supports a case for him.

This would be the same Kolo Toure that was part of Rodgers' support staff? I'd rather glue my balls to my eyelids.

Kolo Toure and Ashvir Singh Johal both free agents, bring them home!

Lijnders ring a bell loosely, anyone have any idea if he is alright?

Did a fantastic job at Wigan if I remember correctly 🤣

Kolo Touré served as the first-team manager of Wigan Athletic for just 59 days, from November 2022 to January 2023. Appointed to his first managerial role, he failed to win any of his nine games in charge (3 draws, 6 losses) before being sacked by the club.

Isn't that the club the sporting director was at?

Yes, which is why I put him forward as a likely option a while ago. The connection is strong with this one. Not sure he is actually what we need though, but the likely appointment and what should be the appointment is very likely to be worlds apart.

He could well be one of McCarron's radar.  Pep's Assistant Manager (Kolo Toure was just a Coach) last season, Manager at Red Bull Salzburg (with a 45% win rate), Rodgers' and Klopp's Coach at Liverpool for 9 years and Manager at NEC Nijmegen (with a 50% win rate, just missing out on promotion to the Eredivisie).

We aren't hiring Kolo Toure

I was  just speculating that he might be in McCarron's thoughts!  I'd be very surprised if it happened.  But as in my post above, Lijnders might be a possibility.

Pep Lijnders? Probably the best assistant manager currently in world football who has worked for Liverpool and Man City. The **** are you smoking?

You think he hasn’t always dreamed of working under Jon Rudkins stewardship?

Could see it as an opportunity like Enzo?

As always take these things with a pinch of salt, but my family contact at Forest said he's heard we are going in for Russell Martin again quite heavily.

Hardly the most shocking ground breaking rumour.

I would be surprised if he would manage in League One tbh, but we seem to always be linked with him and no doubt spoke to him before appointing cifuentes last season.
