There aren't any next manager markets open for us currently?

Reading up on Thelin, it looks like he would have had the same career trajectory as Cifuentes, hence nothing obvious to be excited about.

What's the attraction, to those better informed?

There have hardly been any at all for the past few months. TalkSport Bet were apparently running one for a bit, but I think it was the only one. Possibly Bet Victor at one point too. The rest haven't touched us.

He was excellent in Sweden, dramatically improving 2 unfancied clubs with no budget.

His stint at Aberdeen is a bit hit and miss, he was incredible at the start and they won a trophy and then it went a bit wrong.

I think the main thing for me is he is considered a "builder" really gets involved with recruitment and what he needs and he doesnt play possession based football, its much more direct and fast transitions.

He wouldn't come without some warnings (2nd half of his stint at aberdeen) but theres alot to like about him and how he could fit in here. Im applying the lets not forget we are in League One tax to being positive about it rather than thinking its a huge coup

That’s assuming Rudkin has final say. I’m not convinced he will.

Of course he will, who else is going to do the final sign off? McCarron? Aiyawatt will go for what Rudkin does..

First bit sounds a lot like Marti.

But if he is a builder and his style sounds like he doesn’t insist on the possession for the sake of it shite then he sounds more tempting than RM.

Is he a ‘nice’ guy? We need a little discipline to lift standards.

It would be nice if those recruiting remembered what type of football got us out of League One previously, was then successful in the championship and ultimately took us to the PL title - none of this tippy tappy shit anymore. Up and at 'em

Let’s get Marti back, on that basis then!

Jimmy Thelin

Preferred formation, 4-2-3-1

Likes to play with a deep-lying 6

Likes his wingers to excel in 1vs1

There’s some continuity there with our previous managers, so it’s probably no surprise we were interested after Cifuentes was sacked.

Yeah he gives off Cifuentes vibes to me too.

What if it isn’t a battle? What if Rudkin’s ‘promotion’ was actually a way of moving him aside while sparing him any embarrassment over a perceived demotion? I’ve seen it so many times in my line of work—people ‘promoted’ to positions that ostensibly carry more responsibility but in reality involve far less involvement on day-to-day decision-making. To me, the McCarron/Rudkin arrangement has all the hallmarks of that.

I would like to believe that, but I don’t think this is the case.

Do you think Aiyawatt is capable of doing this?

Even the season before he got the chop when they were flying to start (24/25) they had an absolutely honking run Nov to Feb – didn't win a game for three months in the league and barely scored in that run n all.  Same season they won the cup but Scottish cup winning managers outside the Old Firm (in recent times) tend to fade away into obscurity, it's really hard to judge as a barometer of quality.

I don’t think Top is ruthless to sack Rudkin outright, but I think he may be capable of a fudge like this, yes.

I’m not remotely convinced by Thelin.
