But we know fine well that Percy doesn't say "in advanced talks" if he doesn't believe it will be done. He's not one to speculate, he puts out things that he knows are likely to happen and he's rarely wrong because of that. That's why he isn't one to break stories reguarly because he has to wait for his sources to confirm, which they won't do until it's all but done.

He's not done anything but speculate with that comment though

I guess this chap’s education didn’t extend to him bothering to find out that Martin has never taken a team out of League One.

When I read it, I did doubt myself, thanks for confirming this guy on X is a div-end and not me lol

So, it definitely may not be Russell Martin then?

Reckon he'll want the Southampton job more, if it becomes available as would more local for him from where he was brought up.

he left Southampton utterly hated just 18 months ago, he's not stupid enough to think they'll take him back

rolling contract would be nice!

A 7 day rolling contract would be as far as I would be prepared to go for this joker.

And then I'd have to be in a generous mood !!

Challinor has a massive thing in his favour.

He's not Russell!!

And in his time as manager he hasn't failed to get a team into the playoffs at least, he doesn't playing borefest football and he seems like a nice bloke.

I'm sold that Martin is a smoke screen...please

Seems to me ... he is either using the connection to us to force some other clubs hand into employing him .... he absolutely desperate for any job ..... or more likely as I suspect ... Rudkin and Top haven't got a clue ..... would love a look at Martins CV ... must be an amazing read

On his CV.

Apart from us which team would be stupid enough to hire Russell Martin?

Watford are the only dense club to go for him and sack him 4 months later

Sorry @Super_horns :kissing:

He also uses the plural teams.

The possession figures themselves aren't actually that important, it's tempo and intent. The problem is Martin is one of those who believes possession is the be all and end all, the aim of the game rather than the by-product of what's happening.

I think our average possession in 2013/14 was pretty high and we were quite a direct team. We were just better than other teams. Martin sees 75% possession as success even if he doesn't win. So does Aiyawatt.

Absolutely perfect for the elements of our fan base that treats the club, and football in general, as Soccer Aid level.

Their client list doesn’t have a full international.

Compared to Wasserman and Unique Sports Group, they are a lot smaller

I Got the wrong agency to be fair. That was when he was a player.

You’re right though not a big agency… funnily enough he’s with Louie Evans who is also Jesse Marsch agent, so we will have dealt with him in detail before.

I think you’ve answered your own question. He’s been unemployed for a while for a reason.

For Challinor, it has to be said that in his 15 years as a  league manager, he’s never finished outside of a play off place ( other than Covid season when he joined half way through)… been promoted in 7 of them..

Gill worked with Martin at Southampton and Swansea.

Was his assistant at rangers too. Went to WBA short term helping Morrison and not been announced since he’s signed a perm contract at WBA

Assuming RM gets the job that is the final nail in the coffin for me, I will have nothing to do with the club while current owners and ex DOF are at the club. TOP you are an A1 ....(FT insert you own words here)
