Spot on, Oundle. Although Fuchs has a pretty limited amount of Managerial experience, he has the nous and background to do a good job for us, again. He's rejuvenated Newport (who were in exactly the same boat as us, 5 months ago, when he took over) and all their fans think he's done what nobody else could, in (almost certainly) preventing relegation.

 

However, if he comes to us, he will need to bring an experienced Coaching team. His time at Charlotte with Dean Smith, might allow him to recruit some of his past assistants (John Terry comes to mind, if we forgive him for his short time for us!).

Mark Smith, Fuchs' Assistant Manager at Newport, is also a Director of FSA.

While I would love Fuchs' appointment,  I can't see it happening. Especially considering this article about James McCarron, our incoming Sporting Director. At Lommel, he only looked at appointing experienced Managerial/Coaching staff (Steve Bould, Lee Johnson) and went for people in the 'Pep / Maresca mould' - I don't think that's CF's style.  I doubt if he'd pick Fuchs, though if Top / Dudkin wanted him, no doubt he'd be overruled. In any event, he would definitely want an experienced hand beside Fuchs.

What has any action by Top or Rudkin ever been to suggest this? They have nothing but contempt for fans, probably because of stupidity and hubris.

Reading that article, I agree, McCarron is unlikely to back Fuchs. However, those 2 names mentioned at Lommel, could well be in the frame. Bould resigned from Lommel not long after McCarron left (still with a 50% win record) and is now a Coach at QPR (though would we go back there again!?). Johnson took over in Belgium and continues with a 50% win record in their 'Championship' (though his statistics in UK football are not great, he did OK with Sunderland).

 

McCarron's knowledge of and longstanding links with, Bould & Johnson through the City Football Group's ownership of Lommel (and the fact that an English League 1 job is probably a step up from being Manager of a Belgian 2nd tier club, or an Assistant at QPR), is likely to mean they would be considered.

As others have said, I would go for Dave Challinor. That is, presuming Stockport don't get promoted. He has obviously took Stockport from the National League, to a team pushing for promotion out of League 1. A lot of their supporters are surprised that Championship teams haven't been trying to take him. 

 

Granted, if I was Challinor and looking at our club, I would say 'thanks but no thanks'!!

I’d want to see what Fuchs does with a full season in charge first. Keeping Newport up in his first go at management is genuinely a pretty good achievement. Think their home form has been pretty solid for a side at the bottom too. 
 

Can’t honestly say what their style of play is as i stopped watching them after Braybrooke moved on

Lee Johnson's Assistant Manager at Lommel, is ex-Fox, Robbie Neilson. And Johnson's CV includes a lengthy stint at the Etihad, imbibing Pep stuff! Got to be on any McCarron/Top/Dudkin short list?!

Those two (Bould and Johnson) were my punt on this last Thursday, though I hadn't seen the article. McCarron will definitely have an influence, and while they may not have been frontrunners if we stay in the Championship, if we go down, which is looking increasing odds on, I can see them being in the frame.
