Clapping the players

I know lots of people have mentioned it elsewhere but I feel we need a dedicated thread for it. 

 

I was genuinely astonished by the number applauding the players off tonight. There was hundreds around me. One bloke clapping had a bewildered look as to why people were booing. 

 

What's wrong with these people?

The fact they were still clapping and begging for autographs outside the west stand after the game tell you everything you need to know about our fanbase.

They're as much to blame for this demise as the players and owners. They have been brainwashed.

 

They deserve it but they don't even care. Shameful really. 

Saw one fan having a real pop at another in the away end for clapping the lads at the end. Can't say I blame them tbh, brain dead behaviour clapping these twats every week

I find the clapping after the losses we suffered odd, but I can half accept people's reasoning, keeping the team positive/motivated etc. 

 

But to actually clap for relegation. Not just a normal relegation where you half expected to be down there, but the worst relegation in the clubs history perhaps the most embarrassing relegation in English football and you clap?

 

Honestly its beyond comprehension how devoid of any brain cells these people have.

It's the 'family entertainment' brigade that has become a staple part of our support.

 

They're not 'fans' as they don't fulfil that definition. They're there to take the kids on a day out - don't swear please! - and to shout 'ohhh come on Leicester' in their best I Like Football Too voice. 

 

They don't know why people need to have a beer at the football and they think it would be better if everyone just sat quietly.

I wouldn’t disagree, but that was one of the better performances I’ve seen this season. 
 

I wouldn’t have clapped them off myself but I can (admittedly only just about) see why someone could.
 

if that was the level we’d of produced all season I think we may have finished lower mid table.

Had an older couple and grown up son, clapping like we'd won a trophy. When I challenged why they were clapping the worst team in our history. The mother said "they tried" and the son broadly grinning told me to grow up...

 

I probably care more than some I get that, but I am bewildered by the thousands of halfwits who normally sit in abject silence cheering Winks like he's the second coming and hadn't been a gutless ***** who abused his own fans all season.

 

These people breathe the same oxygen. Scary.

 

That probably makes no sense at all. I am absolutely gutted it has come to this.

I was pretty much surrounded by them as I descended the steps. I overheard one old fella (I bet he's younger than me, ha ha) muttering to his wife in disbelief at the clapping, but we were definitely in a minority. I find it incredible that, after a season of mediocre performances and minimal urgency,  so many were completely taken in by 20 minutes or so in this match.

Basically, they’re not fans. And I know that sort of thing gets thrown around a lot, but these people don’t have the first prerequisites of being a supporter. They aren’t vocal, they aren’t emotionally involved, and they don’t have pride in it because pride = standards.

They’re just people who go to the football to pass the time. The epitome of a consumer. Buy the merch etc. Purple Ronnie mentioned it but it’s the result of football declining from a more organic,  community-centred passion to what it is now, a business. 

 

People are well within their rights to say I’m not a fan anymore either. I can’t associate with what football is now, I don’t respect players nor our fanbase.

But those abusing and starting on fans for not clapping are utter willy pullers. The club would be in a much better place without them.

But we didn't we have been relegated. We played OK for 45 mins and tried harder than the majority of the previous 43 games. That isn't worthy of any applause or praise.

Just yet another sign of a lack of critical reasoning/thinking skills.

 

It’s proper react in the moment based on what you have just seen in the performance, or in response to the players clapping the crowd and thinking that’s the right response to that, stuff.

 

No ability to react to the bigger picture at full time (a disgraceful and avoidable relegation) or to see that clapping moments like this makes you complicit in a fall in accountability that has spread across the club.

 

These people are actually dangerous. If everyone were like them the club could charge what they want, play games where they want and only let who they want into the stadium. They have an inability to hold a standard or protect anything for their fellow supporters.
