FosseSpark Posted 22 April Posted 22 April For 100 years of our existence we were at a smaller facility, which suited the fact our core fan base is max 20,000 of hardcore football supporting locals. Since moving to the Walkers / King Power we've tried to move in to the 30k, then 40k seater stadia which means we have more day trippers, families, corporates and tourists in to pad out. When we are in top 10 of the prem that's fine. Although we still needed clappers to ensure certain parts of the stadiume were actually engaged in creating an atmosphere. This has disappeared, and does disappear when we are playing shit or in the champ/leauge one for any period. I think we should consider drastic options ie selling KP, changing the configuration, to mean we can focus on 20,000 core fans again. I wouldn't be averse to us selling the KP and going to a 10,000 capacity set up at Seagrave if it enabled us to rightsize our operation, survive as a club and build back up again properly. The necessity for the KP to be in the city centre no long exists as the fan base is not concentrated in that area but spread across leicestershire, so having a smaller stadia at Seagrave wouldn't be a massive issue for me. 1

Nah come one, Leicester City has to stay in the city, particularly on the south side.

Sell the King Power and then build a 10k capacity stadium at Seagrave? Go back to bed mate.
st albans fox Posted 22 April Posted 22 April (edited) The happy clappers don’t understand they don’t really want to understand it’s not an issue if your team tries for 46 games and isn’t good enough to avoid the drop. Like last season in the prem - I mean not that we particularly tried but we weren't good enough and I think the players knew this. But other sides have shown that a huge amount of determination and effort can bring unexpected consequences. this group of pros are a disgrace to their profession. Take the kids out of this because they shouldn’t be castigated for not performing in that environment. The fact that they don’t have enough about them to be fit enough to run around is incredible. that dressing room is likely the worst we’ve had in the last sixty years for that reason alone. Managers come here and are simply unable to get past that dressing room. those players don’t deserve any applause whatsoever. Edited 22 April by st albans fox 3 1

Lets operate both at a massive loss, with 10,000 fans in a 32000 facility and end up wound up and playing out of anstey nomads.

Top’s stood with the club because he hasn’t a ****ing clue what to do. He’s clearly out of his depth. In fact, he’s not stood with us at all. He’s either sitting at the top of a tower in Thailand or playing ponies.

ashbyj Posted 22 April Posted 22 April The shocked reaction from Top and Rudkin when the cameras panned on them at full time amazed me the most, strongly doubt the two of them could run a local darts team. Absolute clueless ***kers.
Popular Post adejo92 Posted 22 April Popular Post Posted 22 April There's no nice way of putting this, but in 4-5 years time, or one bad winter, we won't have to worry about 90% of the happy clappers. 3 4
Mike Oxlong Posted 22 April Posted 22 April I think this is being overstated regarding the numbers involved. Around me there were a few clapping the players off but a tiny minority. The majority were either silent, booed or had left. But a big majority will renew. Most of those I’ve spoken to are renewing despite their anger and despair at what has happened. Not many are optimistic for the near term but are renewing because “it’s what we do”. 1

Not sure what the problem is of holding up the scarf we got at the game that celebrated the life of the guy that actually brought us success tbh, That's not a scarf for Top is it, it's for his Dad. It's not like it's got "King Power" written on it Completely understand the contempt for Top, but not his Dad, maybe he's holding it up as a protest for how badly the club has fallen since the helicopter accident? kingfox Posted 22 April Posted 22 April The scenes at full-time yesterday just proved how split our fanbase is, it feels like it’s split into three sections. Many stayed last night to vent their anger at the demise of the club. Many filtered out at the full-time whistle because they just cba anymore, they are apathetic to the situation. Then you have those who for some reason will continue to support King Power and clap the team. It’s unfathomable to me why some fans feel the need to clap the players, a bunch of players who gave them nothing back this season, and have now secured back-to-back relegations, it’s bizarre. Do they have a mindset where they are sympathetic towards Top because of the tragedy? Do they just not care about our situation, because we’ve been in League 1 before? Or are they just brainwashed and deluded? I guess I’ve answered my own questions there, because if you ask the clappers how they are feeling, you’ll probably get a mixture of those three things.
inckley fox Posted 22 April Posted 22 April 7 hours ago, Manwell Pablo said: I do feel neither side has heard the other sides argument yes, I’ve seen our supporters fight each other at Bramal lane and heard about clashes at the king power and all I see here is people arguing with anyone who dares offer to suggest anything other than ripping down the statue of Vichai with a Cambodia flag draped over his head recently. That’s an exaggeration but you get my point as I know you’re an intelligent bloke. You mention other parts of the world, I live in Sheffield, the way Wednesday fans came together puts us to shame. It took a lot of debating and talking but they did it. That’s empathy. I'd looked at it as stubbornness from one side coming up against not-always-particularly-well-articulated outrage on the other. People who have nailed their colours to the mast long since and aren't going to allow changing circumstances or evidence to sway them, and then those who are so incensed at the sheer incompetence that has led to the ship sinking that they've not yet composed themselves enough to figure out where the life rafts are. And (with apologies for the silly nautical metaphors) even when they do, they're not going to be sharing a boat with the other lot, who were too busy sharing nibbles and enjoying the Titanic band's last waltz to acknowledge that the whole bastard ship had been impaled by an iceberg. But this is why I'd asked you. I think we're probably in agreement here, because I've also laboured the point that sooner or later we're going to have to come together as a fanbase again. If we don't, then in the worst case scenario where the whole thing collapses we won't even have a phoenix, because that requires agreement on the successor club. You'd have one set of people saying 'you lot caused this with your (delete as appropriate) negativity / refusal to hold people account for their gross negligence. You're not welcome.' And as you've said before, there needs to be unity if we're to effect positive change before things get to that point. Some of us have to remind ourselves why people are going to cherish Vichai's memory, find it near impossible to revile his son, and be grateful that the latter continues to pay the bills. You'll convince those people that Rudkin should go, Top should take a step back, things should be radically overhauled, and maybe even that KP should sell up, but you won't convince them to hate Top or hound him out. Neither will you have much success in slating fans for attending matches or applauding improved displays or refusing to attend protests alongside those who, as you say, would have Vichai's statue at the foot of the canal with a Cambodia flag round it. So yes, point taken. 2
iancognito Posted 22 April Posted 22 April I don't think last night was clapping for clapping's sake, there was about 20 mins where everyone clearly thought "where has this been all season" and a lot wanted to encourage that and recognise they'd done something right for a change. But where we sit you could see various people eyeballing clappers and clappers eyeballing boo-ers. For me we need to get this out of our system, last night and Friday will be therapy, tell these useless fkers to do one and hopefully never see most of them again. We all know the summer is massive. Next year's team will be about 5 years younger on average and wont have be saddled with relegation baggage. There will be only one place to direct the anger. 1
CosbehFox Posted 22 April Posted 22 April Of course as always the twisted irony is that at no point did those clapping at the final whistle start up a chant last night. The place was a ****ing morgue bar two sections of the ground 3
