24/25 in Premier League.

Smart arse lol

21/22 & 22/23 didn't play a Welsh team either, doesn't feel like we haven't played Cardiff for that many years.

We always seemed to play Cardiff. I'm sure when we played them in play offs we played them in one of the Cup competitions too. I used to hate playing them back then because they had some good players for Championship level.

As in, when was the last year we didn't?

I'm not saying last season we didn't play one

And Wrexham.

2024/25.

EDIT: I tend to avoid replying to things like this because I know a flurry will have beaten me to it. Lo and behold.

We have completed the signing of Cambridge United’s promotion-winning Player of the Season James Gibbons.

The 28-year-old, a free agent after leaving the Cledara Abbey this summer, has signed a two-year deal with the option of another year in the club’s favour.

Director of Football Richard Montague said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome James as our first signing of the summer.

“He was a mainstay in a defensive unit which conceded only 33 goals this season – by far the fewest in the EFL.

“James is capable of playing anywhere across the back line, possesses a very dangerous long throw and plenty of experience – including almost 100 appearances in League One.

“He’s a natural leader, a brilliant character and full of confidence following a terrific campaign with Cambridge."

Cal Roberts has completed a return to Meadow Lane, signing a two-year contract with the option of another year in the club’s favour.

Four years on from his departure for Aberdeen, the 29-year-old is back in Nottingham for a second spell in black and white.

A good day for us, I'd say

Looks like you guys are doing some decent business for league one. Is it survival as a goal or are the fans hoping for more?

At the least you should have good momentum.

Not sure what the consensus is, but for me it's just survival.

We were the 4th best team promoted and if you look at the recent history of the team that came up from the playoff, it isn't great.

Happy though to have the opportunity and hopefully if we can continue to strengthen then we might exceed expectations.

Grounds I look forward to the most:

- Bradford (the city, though...)

- Notts County

- Wimbledon

- Cambridge

- Oxford

- Bromley

- Plymouth

Also, when's the last time Cambridge and Oxford played each other in the same league? Must've been 15 years plus.
I suppose their football rivalry isn't as big as it is in rowing?

Cambridge vs. Peterborough should be a great match-up.

Cambridge and Oxford were together in League One in 2023/24.

RIght. I could''ve gone back in seasons instead of comparing league standings over the years.

It’s alright, the way this club are predictably going through the motions I would say at least one of the bottom 4 spots will be ours. Will that be the first ever team relegated 3 times consecutively?

Not sure what your lineup is looking like, but surely you guys will be better than that.

Yeah, definitely don't recall anyone here that predicted that.

Scary thing when you start that free fall.

Hope you sort it out.

There’s been no time in our 142 year history when relegation to the 4th tier would be even a possibility. Relegation to the 3rd tier is barely conceivable given we have been a mainstay in the top 2 tiers and barely in the bottom half of the 2nd tier in that time.

But now many of us are resigned to it. I’d actually be really shocked if we got promoted next season but not at all surprised if we got relegated, genuinely. I suppose the more likely scenario is lower mid-table.

To be fair, I have made a serious of what I thought were negative predictions when it comes to us as even what seem like negative outlooks at the time end up looking overly positive when reality actually kicks in!

It would be a first from top flight to 4th tier. The closest examples are Luton who had 3 successive relegations from the Championship to non-league, and Northampton who went from top flight to 4th tier in 4 seasons.

We’ve completed the signing of Crewe Alexandra midfielder Max Sanders.

The 27-year-old, who made 40 appearances for the Railwaymen last season, has turned down their offer of a new contract and joins us on a two-year deal with the option of another year in the club’s favour.
