I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Top see’s league 1 as an opportunity to rebuild for the championship with the lesser financial restrictions. Rightly or wrongly I wouldn’t be shocked to see them throw money at it.

Pretty certain the only thing Top’s seeing at the moment is the oncoming polo season and how can he get Bangkok’s Z list over for the 10year game

From what I've read, investment via the ownership, in terms of gifting the club money (not loans though) is basically fine, and if Top wants to, he could more or less invest as much money as he wants, and this would count as turnover for the purposes of the salary cost management protocol. There is also a transitional period for newly relegated clubs as well, so we should be able to spend 75% of our revenue on player wages in our first season as a League One club rather than the standard 60%.

Financial losses and restrictions on investment don't apply in the same way as they did in the Premier League and the Championship - although there is apparently a staggering calculation which means that only 60% of investments over one million can be included in turnover.

In simple maths, if Top invested £10m, then £6m of that would be added to turnover. And then, because of the 75% first season transition allowance, it would give us an extra £4.5m in terms of additional wage headroom. Birmingham used stadium naming rights (£9.5m p/y) to boost their commercial turnover in League One. Shirt sponsorship would be a lever that King Power could use again. These sponsorship deals seem to be a lot less regulated in lower leagues.

The question is more whether he actually has the ability to do that, given the state of King Power's finances and the fact that so much of his personal wealth is tied up with the King Power Group. Actually, who knows if he even has the desire to do that?

I think this year will tell a lot from a financial perspective both with the football club and Top’s personal wealth, plus it’ll show his desire to at least attempt to fix this mess.

Don't forget he will (or someone will) have to chuck money in to keep us afloat given our revenue is about to drop off a cliff. We have a huge fixed cost base to service, so any money poured in won't be put towards a football manager style rebuild.

I get that but I would imagine the club is also going to raise around £30m (once balancing the books) so whether you use that or Top’s personal investment there should be an opportunity to have a good size kitty if the money from Top is there.

I personally think you're in for a shock

I get being doom and gloom but it's a bit hard to predict how we are going to be with a whole new squad and manager.

Until you think who is responsible for selecting and appointing those you have mentioned….

Then it’s very obvious to circle back to doom and gloom!

Sorry—this is the depressives’ support group, mate. The rational group meet further down the corridor on the right.

Problem is, can we even be confident that no further points deductions are on the way? Not talking if we went into administration but just this ongoing breaking of PSR.

Because we get nothing from the club, we have no idea what they are thinking, whether they even have a plan, whether we are on an even footing points wise for the coming season.

With that and their proven record at appointment awful managers and terrible transfers, it’s expect the worst unless given reason to see otherwise really.

Just got back from having a nosey at the Lincoln City Parade.  Those were the days when we all actually had a club worth shouting about…

Manager wise I'm torn - Rowett had 2 wins 8 draws, 4 defeats in 14 games. It's not the best. But personally I don't mind him as I don't think he'll tolerate any bullshit. Also who is out there that's any better? With someone new it could be another disaster like Cifuentes. At some point constantly chopping and changing managers has to stop

Rowett has a worse ein rate than Cifuentes...  he is NOT the answer to ANY question

Curious of our relegation odds for next season.

Odds tend to be based more on size of club and ‘names’.

Back in the real world, we have to be more likely to go down than get automatic promotion. Not to say we will go down, but more to illustrate that automatic promotion shouldn’t be in anyone’s thoughts, well not that doesn’t want to be massively disappointed that is.

Do you know for certain there aren’t going to be any further points deductions? That is the big one for me. Whilst nothing surprises me with this iteration of the club, if we can’t stay out the bottom 4 on a level playing field in League 1, the club does need to go pop and start again. But we have a constant fear of dedications hanging over us until the club take responsibility, and actually stop f***ing up!

It’s looking almost certain now that we complied in 2024/25.

We won’t know the current season‘s financial results until next April. However, all clubs in the Championship have to submit a PSR projection for the current season and if the EFL suspects a club is heading for a breach, it typically seeks to take preventative action via as business plan, transfer embargo, etc. That’s what they tried to do to us in 23/24 because they suspected (correctly, as it turned out) that we were heading for a breach. We challenged this and ultimately did not have a business plan, although we did have a transfer embargo for a short time. This all became public because of our legal challenge.

There have been no reports of the EFL seeking to take any such action against us this season. This may be because they don’t think we’re going to breach, or it may be that they believe we ARE heading for a breach and have taken some action agains us, but it hasn’t become public because we’re not legally challenging it this time. It will be interesting to see if there is a mad scramble to sell players between 15-30 June…

A week since the end of the season. Kit. sponsor, squad, manager, fans, pre-season fixtures – no news from the club. Everybody on holidays?

Sounds like something serious is going on.

I don't think they'll come back to work till the end of July then start thinking about the new season
