Can we actually claim the players are shit. Just because they can't play this game don't mean they are shit. Let's be honest you would not buy a garden rake to dig a hole. Well unless you are Top or Rudkin that is. 1

Number 6 Posted 24 August Posted 24 August I think Martin could still have got a Champ job in the summer or waited until winter for one to come up, if he had wanted to. There's no way we've have been able to get an easy break clause in his contract. He was a shit AND expensive option I imagine. Might be the strongest case for keeping him: that we'd be financially f'd if he was sacked. 2

But Top and Rudkin are to stupid to see that and would just pay him. 1

Put it this way then - there is a huge amount of shitness in the squad, irrespective of playstyle.

But he doesn't pick the stronger and more committed players, his defensive organisation is crap, his style of play is nonsensical, his game management is poor etc etc. So yes, as bad a hand he's been dealt, any half-decent professional manager should have performed a damn sight better. 2
weacceptrejects Posted 24 August Posted 24 August Martin is a proven failure, hes hasn't a clue about tactics, man management or football in general so we decided to fund his incompetence. 2

Im sure that Top and Rudkin will muster up a way to find a manager who is even worse! don't you worry! The past few managerial appointments have been downgrades Enzo>>Cooper>>RVN>>Cifuentes>>Rowett>>Martin I didnt think it was possible to go worse than RVN but then they served up Cifentes from somewhere. iancognito Posted 24 August Posted 24 August There's always a degree of blame for the manager, they're pivotal in the tactics and general attitude of the squad ( Sven to Pearson, Puel to Rodgers, Enzo to Cooper as 3 classic modern examples) but you cannot look beyond Rudkin here. If Martin doesn't turn this around (ie a long unbeaten run) then he should be Rudkin's final mistake. He's had a hard on for the guy for about 3 years, irrespective of what he did elsewhere, he was determined to get him through the doors at Seagrave. Did he fit? Have we got players that can play tippy tap pass-a-lot football? Was he right for our academy or our situation? Does the club need to be a project or does it just need results? He was available and he went for him. He's culpable if the project fails. 1
brookfox Posted 24 August Posted 24 August There is literally zero point doing anything other than backing him currently. Was he the right appointment? Two games in there's obvious question marks but we need the transfer window to conclude and to see how his style looks with square pegs in square holes. Then we desperately need new owners and for them to decide who they want. Even if Martin went now we'd just get the next manager off the conveyor belt to try and work under Dumb and Dumber.

Les-TA-Jon Posted 24 August Posted 24 August I'm not interested in hounding Martin out of the club so early, nor am I interested in backing him for the sake of it. It's what happens on the pitch that matters. Obviously so far it's been poor, none of the new signings have yet made an impression and Saturday's performance was alarming - as it showed that last seasons woes are still permeating the club and squad. I'm trying to hold off on any declarative judgments until the window closes and the 'final' squad has had 2-4 weeks to settle. 3
Thebluefox85 Posted 24 August Posted 24 August It was a disgusting appointment, so horrifically bad and yet so predictable, and sadly one Leicester under king power absolutely deserve. 3

Corky Posted 24 August Posted 24 August I thought we might have had at least one unconvincing win by now. Didn't expect two performances where a point flatters us. 1

I think he'll get given ten (league) games (which would take us up to the Peterborough home game on 10th October) and by then if we're not at least in the play offs frame he will be sacked regardless of pay offs, etc. which would be the only way to save our season from likely further disaster....especially if by then we are where we are now in 18th, our lowest ever league position - or worse! Then Hourihane will probably take over indefinitely but what sort of style he'd play I don't know but hopefully not Russell ball - as I'm not sure what his playing style was when in charge at Barnsley last season when they finished a lowly 14th. 1

I suspect (Faes and Skipp aside) that many of the players are a lot better than they are showing and would likely perform better in a system that doesnt give them as much time to overthink and over complicate their game.
fleckneymike Posted 24 August Posted 24 August Let’s make no bones about it, he’s come here because he’s an egotistical twat who saw this as an easy way to rebuild his reputation. He’s clearly thought he could walk in and piss this league playing his style of Pep light football and be hailed a genius. He tried it in Scotland and rightly got ran out of town, and now he’s rolled into town having learnt nothing thinking he can do it again and it’s going the same way as Scotland did.
