Les-TA-Jon Posted 6 September Posted 6 September I’m gonna guess the club will give him Martin more time, but they will likely not be as patient as they were with Cifuentes? Last season they knew we were treading water (no transfer fees paid, points deduction looming) But this season, given the players brought in/money spent, club ‘for sale’ and parachute payments about to run out - I imagine promotion is a must? Stockport away (finished 3rd and playoff runners up) is a ‘tough’ one But after that there’s 5 games in a row vs teams that finished 13th-18th last season + promoted Bromley so you’d think they might be giving him those games/expecting an up turn?
ARM1968 Posted 6 September Posted 6 September Well, if they are expecting an upturn they’re going to be very much mistaken. The truth is they don’t want to spend the money sacking him when, hopefully, someone is about to buy us. However, I don’t think anyone is about to buy us. We’re heading towards administration.

I'd imagine so. But with that said, obviously a "massive" club for this level, and given the mess we find ourselves in, it gives managers a unique opportunity to demand the moon.

He’s had the managers ear on the bench all last season, often seen in the mix with training and in a position for manager for a few games. When he did full in he played the same players the same way. He has been part of the dross for many seasons. Unfit players, habits never corrected and tactics changed. Any decent coach with his time at the club would be saying how it is, making more of an impact and never play dross like Thomas and Reid. Get rid, he’s just another lucky yes man that adds no value to the club. Yes he has literally stated this in multiple interviews, he is a coach who's main role is implementing youngsters into the first team. He is not the tactician he is a coach. Its not "cope" its just what his job is. Also multiple coaches have shown they are much better on there own rather than under a bad manager e.g. Brian Barry Murphy since he's not with RVN He dosen't pick the team, he dosen't set the tactics he is a coach not a manager. And honestly this team currently don't look poorly coached its just what they are being asked to do is stupid but that is not King's decision. He might not be any better but you can't as with a lot of coaches know that without either being able to ask them about it or giving them a shot on there own

Flip side - we lose badly against Stockport. We then win say 2 out of 5, so we're then at circa 13 points with a quarter of the season played. 1

Blames inexperience yet then says he brought young lads on to help. Constantly interrupts the interviewer. Throws his players under the bus. Says we won’t see this again from his team, only he said the same thing after Burton. He is a clueless, arrogant bellend and needs to be ****ed off. He’s blameless according to his Royal Bullschitter the Cnut that is Russell Martin he likes to push the blame elsewhere the bloke is a clown a charlatan a Fuching Schitt manager, Flop and co need to see that because if they don’t Act ASAP then this club will be spiralling down the league into relegation places and that will be a fuching tough place to crawl out of and it’ll be a 3rd successive relegation possibly the collapse of this club! We’re on the edge at the moment and that is why Flop is looking for a buyer to take the club off his and KP’s hands, if this is not done soon and a new injection of funds is pumped into this club then I’m really bothered that we will be going into administration into the EFL’s hands so they can punish us more with a huge points deduction, I’ve never walked out the KP at 70min before in many years of being a season ticket holder but I just couldn’t watch the team I’ve loved for 52 years capitulating so badly hearing the boos in the crowd it’s been so toxic this last couple of years and Khun Vichai would be turning in his grave after seeing his son allow this club to be a laughing stock and fail so badly in such a short time ! I don’t know who will buy us whether it’s the Indian consortium or the Secret Arab or whoever but let’s hope it’s someone who wants to take us back to our glory days surviving in the EPL mid table, it’ll take a long time and a lot of cash but here’s to the new owners giving us back our club and for Fuch sake fuch Rudkin right off kicking his sorry ass out of our club as he’s one hell of a reason we’re. In this mess !! 2
fox_favourite Posted 7 September Posted 7 September Just had an odd thought while I'm full of cold. I might be delusional but I thought I'd throw it out there.... Did Martin take this job knowing he wouldn't last long and for the compensation? He's signed a 3yr contract so he'll get a decent amount. I bet he knew he wouldn't last long due to fans not liking his football so took the club for a mug and just did it to get an easy payday? Maybe not, but just a thought.

Maybe he did easy payday for him to retire on or slime his way into another club, I’d love to know how much he’s made from being sacked must be minted now and doesn’t even need to work?

With how desperate KP were to sign him you just know the contract is bigger than it should be. It was a win win for Martin. Get the job that either relaunches his career or secures him financially for life if he fails.

And unfortunately this crap from him won’t be relaunching his career, more like burying his career as I can’t see anyone trusting him if he can’t turn our sorry lot around just feel sorry for the young lads they’ve over excelled and have been the best players on the pitch but I feel this is the last management job he’ll be offered and sacked from !

The 1-4 and 5-0 games the season we both went up have to be among the most embarrassing disjointed performances we served up under him. We were literally wide open the entire 90 minutes in both games. I am bewildered at how your board could look at those games and see how easy we were to play and score against, and think “yep that’s the man to take us forward” You literally saw first hand how bad he was. I am not trying to rub it in, far from it. Our board are just as clueless as yours and we are going nowhere under them, it’s a slow decline for us: we get steadily worse every season. They are, with no exaggeration, probably the most clueless people to work in the sport. Certainly in my lifetime at least. They're not even close to professional level. 3
Nick Posted 7 September Posted 7 September I doubt we’ll pull the trigger before mid October- it’ll be a last resort having to pay out a combo package to RM. I just hope that after all these years they have learnt a lesson and are having behind the scenes conversations with potential suitors now and not waiting to be managerless until Xmas. 2
Enyoueffsea Posted 7 September Posted 7 September 12 hours ago, murphy said: I thought that if a manager got sacked his contract got paid up regardless of when the axe fell. Are you saying this is wrong? A manager’s contract and compensation are rarely straightforward and there are multiple ways of doing it. 1. Some managers may have break clauses and specific compensation amounts (usually less than their entire contract value) built into their contract. For example, you could sack RM within 1 season for very little compensation. 2. When RM is sacked, rather than paying him compensation you can continue to pay his contract until he finds another job. This is why a lot of clubs bring in an interim, usually from within the club, as it costs them very little and the ex-manager will often pick up a new job meaning they get to stop paying them. 3. When RM is sacked, he gets x amount (usually a negotiated settlement less than the entire contract value) as a one off payment. There can be an additional clause that RM has to pay x amount back, if he finds another job before the end of his Leicester contract. This is why you see some managers take a lengthy period out (like Potter after leaving Chelsea) as they’re on the contract of a lifetime. The media always report the dramatic cost of the entire contract but club accounts often demonstrate that is not the way it works. It’s also why negotiations for managers can take time and sometimes fall through, it’s not just the basic wage they are negotiating, it is their future safety net. 2
