I would assume because the ref had to go to the monitor that it wasn’t so clear if a touch was made or not.

Think it was for him to decide if the defender intentionally played the ball

EMBOLOOOOO!!!

Algeria all over Switzerland, one counterattack, golgolgolgooool.

How are the Swiss feeling about their World Cup so far? Disappointing opening result against Qatar, although on another day they could have won that 5-0. Big win against Bosnia, and a good solid performance to knock off Canada.

They appear to quietly be going about their business and no one is talking about them.

If they get through this Colombia or Ghana, followed by potentially Argentina.

I think with the consecutive appearances lately, there's a rising expectation to make it to and progress in the knockout stage.

Lots of talent for a rather small nation.

This is the time to make it further than ever before. The seeding surely helps.

Thought the Swiss in the second half v Bosnia looked like one of the best teams all tournament. Likely QF v Argentina on the cards, they might quietly fancy their chances.

Croatia robbed.

No way you could 100% confirm that was a header seeming the other one off side.

No way

Apparently they used a snicometer and there was a spike.

The second half was chaotic and its very harsh on Croatia who were excellent but I do think all the decisions were correct. I think he does get the slightest touch to it, people are only annoyed with it because it was the last second. It's a shame that 2 excellent goals were chalked off for marginal offside calls, without VAR you'd probably accept both were onside.

They say they have, how can we trust it? How do we know the sensor has sensed a Croatian head and not the Portuguese head a split second later? How do we know it’s accurate?

If there is absolute proof I want to see it. I’m not just going to assume FIFA and referees are honest.

If you can’t accept the refs are honest then there’s no point in watching the tournament

It was offside no controversy for me.

Player is active during the phase of play and the other attacker is standing in an offside position.

Whether he heads it or not doesn't make a difference he's actively involved in the play.

Don't need a snicko

That’s not the law

The player that ‘heads’ the ball - according to snicko, wasn’t in an offside position when the cross came in. Neither was the guy on the back post.

the player that receives the ball can only be offside if the ball is touched by the head - otherwise it’s not played to him by the header but by the original cross them deflected off the head of the defender

Poor Croatia. It's certainly not clear at all whether that was offside. Goal should have stood and the game would've gone to ET.

Portugal getting decisions that the Argies got in 2022

I guess with Japan gone Switzerland are the dark horses now. They certainly have a stinker in them (Qatar proves that) but they also have a solid structure and some very talented players. They seem to have learnt their lesson from trying to sit on a 1-0 lead in that game and have largely played on the front foot.

Quietly going about their business like others have said. Would fancy them against Colombia or Ghana, Argentina maybe not so much but who knows.
