Joe Aribo was also the best midfielder in the Scottish League 3-4 years ago.

 

Players' performances don't always translate between clubs and leagues. At any rate I don't think Cartwright is thought of poorly in Scotland, just didn't play much.

Presumably we've "only" paid £20mill for Skipp? It was £20mill up to £25mill with add-ons and surely he can't have hit a single fxxking thing to activate one.

Braybrooke started every game last season and has developed massively since his Dundee stint. Think Cartwright needs another full season out on loan playing regulary, possibly a League 2 club

Unfortunatley for us the 5 mill add on clause was ‘back to back relegations’

Yeah I thinking this season might be a year too soon for some of our younger youngsters to be able to play a full season as first choice.

Nobody is paying £15m for a below average Championship standard midfielder. It's not his fault JR  agreed such a silly fee and I do think he generally tries. He's a bit of a confidence player, which must have been dented over the last two seasons. If, and it's a big if, we could get £10m for him (even at a loss) we'd have to snap someone's hand off at that figure, as his value will only fall if he remains.

He's had like one good game and been part of back to back relegations. It's not even close who is worse out of them two.

“Some good moments” he was here 5 years.
Give Skipp another 3 and maybe we can hope for the same.

 

As for costing less, a rumoured £20m in wages, and one good night of finishing in Europe, against a Spartak defence that shipped 11 goals that week.

 

Both hideous, but I think Daka takes some beating given the duration he was here, and spending nearly half his time in the division below he was signed for as one of “Europe’s top talents” and still looking out of his depth.

Let’s not forget ONE league goal in 57 appearances across 3 seasons from the back end of Enzos period to scoring against Stoke last season.

Seems like the kind of player who needs a strong team around him, leaders etc. He’s never one to stand out but perhaps ‘solid’ enough in the right team. We had a team where too many were just not trying and anonymous. So even though Skipp’s effort levels were higher than most, he’s never going to be the type to drag the team up. 
 

Doesn’t mean he can’t play at a good level in the Championship.

 

I want him to go, don’t get me wrong. I just think it’s a bit less black and white when players are written off purely based on being part of a relegation.

 

Or maybe I’m still being overly generous there and he is that bad. I think it’ll be interesting to see how some of those who leave us get on at their next clubs. I don’t underestimate the effect of an awful culture within the club on certain players and some might go on to do quite well at another club.
