You can just see it. I know yesterday game didn't matter, but it was so refreshing to watch a game without any controversy, both teams just playing football. And friendly at the end. 

 

But you know tonight won't be about the football, it will be about how the corrupt country is favoured by a even more corrupt organisation.

The best word to describe Argentina is cringe. They're just... cringe. I've seen a few try to equate their antics to how others must have felt about Vardy with us, but I'm not sure that really translates when it's a country's representatives doing it. Vardy was a bastard if you were facing him on the day, but he had fans around Europe and the world. Nobody likes Argentina apart from fans in countries with shit teams who latch on to Messi, and will probably lose interest in them once he retires.

It takes a hell of a lot in this day and age for England to come out looking like the good guy, but apart from a few weird Messi stans I haven't seen anything from anyone outside of Argentina itself who wants them to win tonight after their antics and a string of questionable judgements on - and now off - the pitch on their way to the final. I always thought Martinez was a unique specimen but turns out the majority of the squad are also complete bellends and everyone knows it. Quelle surprise.  

 

I always thought it was just us who had a (rational) hatred of Argentina, but I was delighted to learn this past week that many, many countries feel more or less the same about them, especially in South America. They're basically the buzz-killing drunk down the pub you just let talk patter at you while you stare off into the middle distance and hope your mates turn up before he turns violent.

If an individual player has a message on a vest / undershirt they are booked, OK it’s after the final whistle but if the ones holding the flag each had a yellow applied maybe they’d miss the final?

I’m sure if Pepsi had invested in advertising and the players waved a Coca Cola sign FIFA would be all over it, ka-ching !

 

Let’s not forget it’s not just about upsetting the opposition team and fans in the stadium, it’s using the opportunity of the worldwide TV platform to spread a message, done in the name of a broadcast Football match, FIFA’s remit being to control the content.

I'm very much looking forward to tonight, after we went out obviously Spain were my new favourites.

 

My Spanish neighbours are already very excited, they have drums out and football chants going, lots of cooking and drinking in anticipation, it's a real party atmosphere. 

 

The only problem I have is because we stream our TV we are behind so we hear the screams before we see the goals 

 

I want to see some real Argentinian tears tonight, with sobbing preferably 🙏🇪🇸

I'm also yet to hear any logical reason as to why Fifa want the argies to win. I'm as pro Spain as most tonight and Argentina pissed me off, but I'm not convinced it's this big conspiracy people want it to be.

As I’m becoming a temporary Spanish Citizen in an hour and a half, lacking in any actual Spanish language knowledge, I’ll just be typing in capitals (to emphasise volume) and adding “Os” to every word like people do on holiday 

I’ve already started my transition by doing f** all for 3/4 of the day and chilling in a hammock because it’s a bit too hot to work. 
 

My one fear is Argiecheaters will try to incite a red card early doors like they did with Anderson, kicking s**t out of him to try to provoke the slightest little finger on a face. I don’t know the ins and outs of individual players image rights but FIFA just love the marketability of anything with Messi or Ronaldo slapped all over it. They have contributed massively to the game but let it be a natural course, if they win, they win, fair enough. 
They have a narrative in mind and having one of them in the final fits the script, some of Infantileino’s facial expressions when they (Argentina) were losing games said it all.
