I think he is getting stick unfairly. That free kick was poor from him, I agree. However, he made some really good stops particularly just before HT.

Plymouth he saved us and Burton (I think) he made saves to keep us in the game.

Some risky passes but that's more on the system that he is asked to play. He is not as bad as being made out.

He isn’t good enough.

He absolutely is. Bloke makes Danny Ward look agile. Same thing happened with him as well, being defended for making routine stops despite being absolutely shite. Fair enough he had a decent second half against Plymouth but he should be nowhere near the team

I’m not saying he’s a good keeper. But he’s a reserve keeper for a league 1 team. Our best keeper got injured.

what exactly are people expecting from him?

He did start the season ahead of that goalkeeper

Our best keeper was on the bench for him at the start of the season, fair enough Martin realised quickly he’s wank but he was brought here to be 1st choice and on decent money for this level, he should be able to save a 30 yard free kick we’re not expecting Lev Yashin levels just the basics will do

I got the vibe that stolarcyk just wasn’t ready.. not that Martin didn’t rate him.

I don’t think he was bought in to be number 1, I just don’t think. Stolarcyk was ready, for some reason

we should be looking at the free agent keepers to see if there is someone we can sign, the other keeper we have couldn't start for Blackpool

Freekick was embarrassing.

The way we've lost Stolarczyk on transfer deadline night, 1 minute into the game from absolutely nowhere feels like a joke. Having a good keeper is so important to a team, some of the jokers you end up being stuck with is tragic. It all went to pot when Kasper left.

He's poor but those making Danny Ward comparisons wash your mouth out, he's not THAT shit. I've even seen him make a couple of saves.

Don't forget he was the first choice for the first two games! I never quite understood why given he is not very good at stopping shots and even worse with his passing. I am not an expert but he does seem to lack some of the key attributes of a goalkeeper. Trouble is, I fear Ravizzolo may make McCarthy look a decent keeper..

And in fairness to Martin, he quickly realized who was the best of the two.

Can we just park Jakub’s hospital bed in goal?

I think people either have recency bias or short term memories. There were a fair few games last season where Stolarcyk was utter gash too. He's certainly not any better than McCarthy.

McCarthy is a decent stopper, crap with his feet but he's in his 30s. Pulls off a worldie today under the bar but possibly two of theirs are his fault. 30+ reserve keeper behind a Russell Martin defence.

Completely agree. Comparing him to Danny Ward is ridiculous. Surely people haven’t forgotten how catastrophically bad Ward was?
