Think now he's not being told to play out from the back all the time, he seems a reliable goalie and has made some excellent saves including yesturday.

What a surprise, you stop asking him to play out every 30 seconds and he looks like a really solid goalkeeper! 

Really enjoy watching how often he comes for corners, I do think sometimes he could distribute quicker but definitely under instruction not to do so,

He was being jeered by our supporters when he first came in and was far from convincing.  

 

Last few games, he's shown great shot stopping and less of the crazy playing it out and has been one of our better players.

 

I think he's won a few over.

I wish he'd put more weight on his passes though, sometimes O'Hora in particular gets such a soft pass he's under more pressure when a firmer pass would give him a better option

Shift in tactics has hugely benefited him. Was practicing long balls all warm up on Tuesday - so its no accident.Been a good shot stopper for us and kept us in the Luton game for longer than we had any right to be. 

 

Don't mind him really, which right now it a big endoresement.

I think it’ll turn out that we are lucky to have him this season, which inevitably means he’s going to be a disaster from now onwards.

Ask him to save shots and not play 3 yard crap passes and he is a very decent keeper at this level

I think think this sums him up. He's an old school keeper not a midfielder. He looks so much more relaxed the last few games because he isn't been asked to do the passing. Most notable decision along with formation change.

Very good against corners and crosses which is massively underrated, think it is a big reason why we have struggled last few years defensively

Yeah he’s improved massively in recent games.

 

I was hugely critical of him at the start as it felt every shot went in and he was so poor with the ball at his feet but he’s made some good saves and been very dominant in the box. I like the one handed spin throw aswell 😂

McCarthy has consistently made avoidable and unnecessary bloopers like this throughout his career. That’s why at a higher level, with actual competition for a place, he ends up on the bench. All he had to do was punch the ball but he decided to showboat a one handed catch.

Back to his usual best, the 2nd isn’t great either if it was going any slower it would have gone backwards
