I'm a little disappointed that we are yet to see either Jake Evans or Lorenzo Hutchinson play at striker yet.

You could see today that Evans was already a lot more comfortable playing centrally in the attacking midfield role than he is out on the wing.

Your all so unbelievably gullible !

Aiyawatt has treated the club like s*** for years now, and you all still go running, it’s incredible !!
if the football club was an animal its neglect would be beyond comprehension to a point it would have to be put down.

I want better for the club not more misery

But you carry on !

I agree mate though do want to see my club do well too, but if it means we get worse before it gets better- with them reprobates eventually selling up, then so be it!

I know our hand is largely being forced, but the young players appear to be taking to Russell Martins style well so far. Most of our top performers have come from the Academy.

The academy players are taught to play posession football. It's why Martin was sought after and why the young players are easily malleable into Martin's rope-a-dope tactics. As much as fans might be sceptical of Martin, it does make sense from an academy philopsophy perspective. Be interesting to see if this doesn't work out the whole academy setup is changed to accomodate the evolution neccessary to attract modern managers.

Wasn't Martin saying that the intensity of the training sessions appeared a little much for him?  At 17 he's probably more wanting to ease him in with a few minutes and not too fussed with position at the moment. Same might apply to Hutchinson.  We're also going to be pretty short of wide men soon too, as well as strikers, so maybe he thinks that's the best place for them for now in the squad.  Though I agree Evans looked better centrally last season at Northampton, but his output was poor.  They were shit, mind.

They both seem to be down the pecking order for CF, think they are looking for some a little more physically at CF.

I think at least 2 of Hutchinson, Evans, Opoku and Otchere will be loaned out.

I think saying his output was poor is a bit harsh when:

1. He's 17 and this was his first season in senior football.

2. Northampton were awful on the whole before he joined.

3. He only played 700 minutes and they were sporadic as well.

4. He stilled scored twice despite all this which isn't even that bad.

He could have scored more but his finishing wasn't great that season. Still I think it is encouraging that at least he found himself in the right positions.

I'm just saying on the face of raw numbers.  His performances were generally received quite well by their fans.

Though like I say Martin said he was struggling with the training sessions, so he's probably just giving him minutes anywhere.

I think he more likely to be used wide.

Interesting to see how Martin sets us up as he's been known to play 3 strikers with two out wide or a front two so Evans has quite a lot of opportunities in either of those systems and I see him as similar to Chaplin too as a withdrawn 2nd striker. Alves is another who will be extremely useful as an 8/10 or LW/RW in Martin's line ups.

Hutchinson is going to have to force his way in, even last season he was picked out wide for the U21s after being ruthless at U18 level for 18 months as a CF. Otchere did very well so can see why Lorenz had to play out wide but his best position is through the middle and hopefully in time he gets his chance there.

I'm really hoping that in the coming weeks we will be able to tap up the likes of Arsenal/Man City for loan players, Enzo knows how the owners want to play, he knows how insane the facilities are, he knows Russell Martin is probably the best lower league manager in the country for coaching this style, it makes so much sense for possession teams to send us their best and brightest talents on loan.

I agree. But it makes more sense to send them to championship clubs.

I can see some loans.

I can't see Evans, Opuko, Otchere and Hutchinson all being in the squad.

You want better for the club, but don't care about the club anymore? Are you alright?

Disagree have seen enough in 3 pre season friendlies to hope we go with our youngsters at this level. We don’t need to be subsidising big clubs development with exaggerated wages.

Everyone should remember that last pre-season we saw all these same youngsters doing well but hardly any of them got a look in during the season..

The reason of course was that we didn't get rid of the high earners hence they had to play. I just hope we don't have the same scenario this season which is why it's so crucial we get rid of them

Out of interest are there any senior players from last year you feel we ought to keep?

Also Marti was told to play the high earners I assume that won’t be the case this season
