ramboacdc Posted 7 August Posted 7 August The thing is here, are we taking this seriously and going 1st team squad or not botherinng and treating it as a glorified friendly and maybe a few first teamers get a run out for a bit. Wouldn't be a good start to the tenure to go out to a League 2 side, but in the grand scheme of things, there isn't that much money in a League cup run and, to say the phrase I always hate to say, our priority is the league here. 2

It’s effectively the last pre-season friendly. I think Martin will go strong. 2

filbertway Posted 7 August Posted 7 August Every year, I've seen people say we shouldn't try in a cup. Even as a safe mid table team, people always managed to find an excuse haha. The worst was people saying "Every place in the league is worth £2m" Hope we go strong, winning breeds confidence and there's absolutely no need to rest anyone that is fit. My suspicion is that we go strong and still make it look hard work though 1
brookfox Posted 7 August Posted 7 August I’d be staggered if he didn’t start close to his starting 11. He’ll be desperate for a positive start and to get the confidence up in the squad following last season. 2

Half agree on line 2, but very much depends on the personality. It can increase motivation to put it right, or someone can think "damn I gave it my best and it still wasn't enough" I would much prefer we go into every game with the intention to win. That doesn't necessarily mean picking the theoretical strongest 11, but every man on that pitch should be giving it their all as a bare minimum. If you put your all in, play well but the result doesn't go your way then fair enough. Football is ultimately a low scoring game and because of that, chance plays a big part in most results. Hence why we're all not retired pro gamblers 1
AKCJ Posted 7 August Posted 7 August Souttar being captain has done a lot for my expectations this season. I was sure we'd just lazily hand it down to Choudhury and standards wouldn't change as a result. Really looking forward to watching this team now. Hopefully those that are tainted with the last 5 years can sit from the stands and watch how it's supposed to be done. 3
AKCJ Posted 7 August Posted 7 August Will we have the squad numbers released tonight? 2, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 11 all available. Suspect Aluko (2), Braybrooke (6), Burns (7), Chaplin (8), Bristric (9) and Alves (11).

The others potentially right. Suspect either JJ or Aluko for the no. 2. 1

Hence why we're all not retired pro gamblers I don’t disagree mate 👍🏼 The mentality is the importance, the culture nurturing that mentality is key sometimes some games are going to have to be carefully selected team wise because of fixture clashes or congestion, but that shouldn’t mean a sign of giving up on a cup run stick the youngens out and be done with it those below the first team HAVE to have installed in them, encouraged by Senior players and management that there is no cop off here, we still have to win ect win win win that mentality amongst a small group of 25 people is astonishingly powerful 1

Hate to be Debbie downer but that’s because souttar is starting and hamza won’t be. Doesn’t mean he won’t be selected as club captain

GrobyLCFC31 Posted 7 August Posted 7 August I’d expect squad numbers to be announced this evening with them having to be correct for tomorrow’s game

AjcW Posted 7 August Posted 7 August Guessing not with it being one stand open, but anyone know of any pre match “family” stuff happening? Taking two 5 year olds to their first game so won’t arrive too early if there isn’t anything in particular!
Craig Posted 7 August Posted 7 August Really looking forward to this which I never thought I'd be saying at the end of last season. Decent business by the club for once and RM is already winning me over. 0-1 Northampton. 3
